God can, too... Or at least, he did in the comics. That's
Spoiler:
why the angel and demon mated in the first place -- God overrode their free will, because he wanted Genesis to be spawned.
*It's also worth noting that in the comics Jesse states that Genesis might be even more powerful than God. /shrug

Spoiler:
biting out Jesse's eye when he tried using it on him.Strangely, he also somehow suppressed the Word for a time. We never find out how, but it's later restored, and the incident is never mentioned again.
Anyways, telling you guys, this is definately looking like Orion enacted by Preacher characters.
Spoiler:
Orion had the exact same arrogance, as he forced people to love each other, ordered corpses to act alive, and did other shitty things in the name of solving the universes problems.
I highly suggest reading Simonson's run, it's fantastic.

a murderer as opposed to a dumb kid who idolizes Kurt Cobain. And I'm also sure that Cassidy is okay, just licking his wounds.
I feel the same way.
There isn't really a likeable protagonist. The whole thing feels like someone in Hollywood using this as an excuse to unload every anti southern stereotype in the book.
Yeah, Ennis bashed the south and religion something fierce, too. But he also threw in positive stereotypes. Likeable small town characters. None of that here to much.

Doesn't exist.Spoiler:
Arseface siimply tried killing himself for emo reasons. And his father was an even bigger prick, never said word one to him until the day Jesse forced him to "**** himself", and asked for his gun.
so did people in the comic hate him? The way he's been treated makes much more sense now. At first everyone looked like (his face... *wink wink*) for treating him horribly just because he's deformed.

Mostly deformed, at first. Clears out an entire diner at one point, yammering to the poor waitress who's just sitting there patiently, smoking. (Silently mutters "Don't let the door hit you on the way out" after him.)
However,
Spoiler:
This all changes when the music industry turns him into a pop idol. 🙂There's some great scenes with Jesse listening to the pundits on the radio, and getting angry at all their gossiping and pot stirrin for his sake.
