Beating the Destroyer isn't a good showing because of a showing or two where it isn't absolutely stomping someone this side of Thanos?Ben Grimm fought a weakened Destroyer (As confirmed by Loki) and Galactus withdrew his life energy halfway through and Ben was beating on an empty suit of armor. When did Thor knock out the Destroyer?
By that logic, Thor outperformed both the Destroyer (Powered by a regular human mind you) AND Hercules in combat apparently and stomped Perrikus easily. That was a stupid high showing for Thor who proceeded to Godblast a Skyfather plus being. Asgard was on the line. It was like Superman in OWAW. Not really indicative of anything. Fighting like that, he'd tear Doomsday a new anus too.
That's also such a HIGHLY selective example that I'm kind of disappointed...as anyone who has read Jurgen's 1998 Thor serious would know, the Destroyer treated Thor like Mangog treated War Thor until he was pushed to the breaking point.
Fandral tried to stab him and failed in his first appearance. He's been stabbed other than that through bladed weapons such as the Valkyrie's but it's never slowed him down.
the thor ko i'm talking about is this one:
did a momentary distraction enable thor a chance to strike? sure, but it was still a ko. or something like a ko. weird, and frankly disappointing since i'd thought the destroyer beyond that kind of dropping.
the grim example was mentioned only because a purely empty shell was brought up in the earlier discussion. seemed comparable to what was being discussed. /shrug
i'd totally disagree though that thor tears this level of dd a new one regardless of how he was fighting--like superman would never tear this level of dd a new one. and thor has fought prolonged battles against the destroyer on more than one occasion, so not sure what you're getting at there. sure the destroyer has outperformed him in general, but thor has also performed well against it too. didn't thor and thunderstrike one time force it to flee, just the 2 of them? can't recall the scene fully.... like anyone else though it has it's lesser showings. but that is off-topic and was never my main point. my main point was that handling the destroyer the way it did doesn't necessarily mean it handles dd the same way. at all.
this sort of got off topic but i still have no idea how anyone can claim a stomp on either side. this still seems like a very close battle imo.
