It's not a crutch so much that it's the reality of the character being argued. DCNU Superman has been out for 2 years but has almost as many instances of seeing print than Surfer has in the past 10 years.

Dude! Like Nibedicus said, this is the reality of the character being discussed.
Nobody said its an instant win, it's one tactic/ strategy for SS to take among a few for an extra advantage on this fight. The more extra you can bring to the table the more likely you take it.

Where did you get the information on the number of each characters appearances from?
Also, so what? Surfer has been around a lot longer than 10 years, and he has virtually every feat at his disposal.

Right now, I'm not arguing. I'm asking questions. When I get the answers, I will look at them objectively. If those answers bring up more questions or I feel like what has happened is more so interpretation than what's there, I will say so.

Maybe not in this thread..It became a thing around the web (CBR especially, but it's been used on other sites) after scans started floating around of Triumph and Superman grappling, with Superman telling Triumph he could kill him by ripping the solar energy out of him, but believes he won't because he's not a killer..

And I'm fine with that. What I don't agree with is anyone saying SS comes out of the gate already knowing Supes weakness and exploiting it before Superman even has a chance to react.
I want to know about Surfer's durability because it's important to know if he can take planet destroying punches.

Why would he provide any more scans than what they have posted.? Read what you are asking people and implying. They post fts and you ignore it. They post evidence and you post something saying that it didn't happen instantly...WTF. You haven't even provided evidence that this version of Superman is faster than Surfer. You posted a scan and took it out of context...how about you post proof that this version of Superman can beat Surfer.
