MORE!
Since Star Wars is a constantly evolving lore, newer developments may challenge the authenticity of the older ones in certain aspects. However, fans are seemingly left to their imagination in the matters of "most powerful," because characters are not officially ranked with entire history under consideration by the concerned authorities. Some argue that Sidious's promotion as the most powerful Sith Lord have not been challenged in newer developments due to timeline factor but some argue that Sidious's promotion requires renewal in the light of latest developments concerning the lore to solidify the authenticity of his earlier promotion as such.
However, the Son may have challenged Sidious's promotion as the most powerful practitioner of dark in sources prior to introduction and promotion of the Son in this regard. Though it can be argued that Sidious became more powerful then even the Son after the demise of the latter at a certain point, in the Legends continuity.
In the nutshell, interpretations.
Why is this always be argued...why is this such a big deal now? Every piece says Sidious is the strongest in Legends, it's done...no arguments should be had. I remember this being less a big deal way back, so why is it all of a sudden people wanna try to disprove all this?
Why does this matter? Who cares? Just accept it and move on, keep on bringing it up and trying to argue it is pointless.

Because Vitiate was made, and the fanboys arrived in droves.
Just wait until the force awakens is released and they'll all move on, save a select few.

I am not a blind believer in superiority of any character in the Star Wars mythos

I get that everyone is entitled to an opinion but the hypocrisy is amazing. Believe what you want but you are the last person on this planet that can complain about aboutA) being a fanboy
B) unnecessarily hyping feats (or in your case unnecessarily hyping descriptions in lieu to a LACK of feats)
C) calling out writers because they don't share YOUR biased view.Like believe what you want, but there's no fvcking way you don't see that you do the same exact thing you're calling out people on with regards to TOR characters. There's no point in trying to refute that either.
Re: Why does all literature place Sidious as strongest sith lord?
To make up for him being a pretty lousy character. Instead of him being a compelling villain through motivation and original characteristics, they instead decide to load him up with uber abilities. Same goes for Emperor Vitiate. Crappy character, but uberly powerful.
