I found Wolverine slaughtering his way through the Weapon X guys, like a ferocious, unstoppable maniac, to be one of the highlights of the film.

I probably would have too, if not for the fact that I saw 3-4 movies tell me how amazing and special he was already. There are other X-Men that can do cool shit, if given the chance. He felt shoe-horned in to me, especially as it adds a new dimension to his and Jean's relationship.

Well, one of the things I appreciated was that it wasn't too stretched out. He had his fairly brief, action-packed moment, and then was gone. And wasn't a big focus in the film, unlike a lot of the others. Given the track record of the franchise up until this point, there was a danger of Wolverine just magically joining up with the team to head off and fight Apocalypse, just to have Magneto toss him away again.

It not being as bad as it could have been only gets so much leeway from me, tbh.

To sum it up, even the mention of my absolute favourite villain in comics in the end credits scene got so little reaction from me. Like most of the movie. I expected it to be the worst of the comic book movies this year, and in several ways it is, imo.

Be interesting to see what look they go with for Sinister.

Wouldn't say this is the worst comic book movie of the year considering there was the grand disappointment that was BvS.

But year this movie was pretty flacid especially when you take into account that it has "Apocalypse" in the title of the film. Its a shame really considering I think that for once the X-Men were finally feature as a team and mostly correct powers.

I'd say it's better than the theatrical cut (though not by much), but worse than the extended. And less entertaining than either.

Yeah, there was a lot of potential there, but Singer, and I know I've said this before, really shouldn't be involved in these movies.

Fair enough assessment I guess (the XMA vs BvS comparison), though I found XMA more entertaining, but even as much as I loved this film in parts (more-so the first half), I'm not the least bit hyped for Sinister, my other favorite X-Men villain. I want to be... but I'm not. They'll probably just kill him off after one movie too.

I disagree, suicide squad was god awful.

Oh yeah, Suicide Squad was subpar too. Definitely liked it better than BvS also, but not sure how I would compare it to XMA. This just wasn't the best year for comic films, though there were a couple decent hits but it was too far in between.

Apocalypse is better than Suicide Squad in just about every way

I enjoyed both for different reasons, but SS's villain Enchantress (whose final form looked stupid) can't even compare to Apoc himself, despite the complaints about his look. lol

I honestly thought SS had more redeemable qualities than Apocalypse, but I agree that Apocalypse was a better villain than gyrateress.

Apocalypse has been the worst SH movie of the year by far.

Honestly it's not even close to SS or BvS to me. And SS/BvS are not even close to FC or DOFP, which just shows how much the quality of the series declined with this one.

Yes he needs to go. If he does the next one, then I might not watch it on the big screen, and will wait for the rental.

Singer did do a surprisingly better job overall with DoFP than pretty much all his other X movies, but I guess this film proved lightening isn't going to strike the same place twice with him, so I can agree that he needs to go... again.

Still though, for me, XMA ≥ SS >>> BvS.
And like with the added Rogue stuff in DoFP, I look forward to what extra scenes Apocalypse will probably get in the blu-ray release. 🙂

👆 @ both.

For me, that was because DOFP was heavily influenced by Vaughn, and Singer only came in late in the game.

==========

For me it's not as good as the two DCEU movies because even with their issues, there are moments of brilliance in both, some more fleeting than others.

X-Men Apocalypse didn't have one scene that made me feel anything more than "meh".

I'm just the opposite. SS offered absolutely nothing and BvS had a couple decent scenes, but nothing on the scale of the Quicksilver stuff or when Phoenix was unleashed.

Phoenix unleashed was very Meh. The Quicksilver scene was the only memorable scene

The Pheonix being unleashed thing wasn't terrible, but Jean's phoenix moment in X2 was better imo.

The only thing about the Quicksilver scene that stood out to me was simply how fast he was moving. That was some Flash level shit.

Otherwise, the scene really just felt to me like a weaker version of the one in DOFP.
