I don't think so. Big destruction is totally ok, but you gotta have enough build up. Especially Apocalypse got a very fantasy-like background. The movie itself did well enough.

If Dark Phoenix is not a big world threat why use her?

The only emotional buildup in Apocalypse for the most part was Magneto. It paid off as far as Eric but still needed more.

Kinberg talks a good game but will have to see if he can back it up in Dark Phoenix...

Because they wasted it on Mystique, making her a big hero is the worst mistake of X-Men franchise.

What went wrong with X Men Apocalypse?

I think the villain was handled OK in the movie, but he is such a big archnemesis of X-Men which require far much more setup than just one post credit scene showing his young age. At least a trilogy is needed to set him up.

Also I really wish to see Mr Sinister.
