Most people are just impressed by things even remotely smart. The reason people love Donnie Darko is because they think they are smart coz they understand it, makes them feel good. Hence why not alot of dullards like The Matrix, coz they don't get enough of the subtle themes.

i never thought of it like that.

i think i will now.

I suggest that ppl don't take things too personal. These are only comments and opinions. There is no need to be offended. It really is no biggie.

"Well, I don't certainly don't appreciate my Lord and saviour being referred to as fecal matter, as you so eloquently "parodied" the title."

Oh come on man. Crap is blatantly referring to just poor quality. I seriously doubt he meant it as fecal matter. If I say someone is shit at a computer game, I don't mean they are literal faeces, just poor at it.

They should have thrown some jokes in the bible, maybe it would have gave Christians a sense of humour. Or taught them the meaning of non-literal humour.

Heh, come on, man. We all know I make fun of everything. I also wasn't intending to call jesus fecal matter, I just sustituted "christ" for a word to describe my discontent for that movie. I meant no connection between "crap" and "christ".

Well, I took it the only way I knew how, so, sorry for supposidly over-reacting.

No problem.

that was so f*cking funny it made complete sense 😆

man you should really stop bashing peoples beliefs openly, that shit isnt cool man, i dont bash your beliefs with a passion, i dont even care, why cant you do the same and just say you dont agree with it man, instead of trying to cause some heat

I've got a sense of humor, it's just that the way the remark was phrased, it could have been taken more than one way. The pun should have made in the first word of the title, not the subject of the movie. (i.e. The Boredom of the Christ, The Time Wasted on the Christ, etc.)

It's cool, there was just a misunderstanding. Back on topic.

Are you a moron?Comedy? The Bible isnt something you read for fun.You read it to recieve spiritual knowledge and to read about Christ and his acts on earth.Who ever said that christians didnt have a sense of humor?I made the "Post some jokes"thread for crying out loud!

On the other hand BF was merely stating an opinion and as he said in a post above he didnt mean to call Jesus Crap but merely substituting the word to make his own little parody.

I got to see Donnie Darko on HBO last thursday and I agree. Is waaaay too overrated. It has been blown out of proportion! Donnie Darko is nothing but a mixture of X-files, Twilight Zone, and Dawson's Creek into a movie. Not bad, but not that good either.

"It's cool, there was just a misunderstanding. Back on topic."

Yeah sorry if you thought I meant that in some dramatically malicious way. It was intended with humour although truthful in my feelings.

"man you should really stop bashing peoples beliefs openly, that shit isnt cool man, i dont bash your beliefs with a passion, i dont even care, why cant you do the same and just say you dont agree with it man, instead of trying to cause some heat"

I'm not trying to cause heat. If people realised that right to an opinion means right to have opinions ON opinions, they wouldn't react the way they do to my words. If you get offended and snap, that's your problem. I'm never outright and directly offensive to any one person. I don't bash people's believes, I just say how I feel about them. You could bash my views all you wanted, I'd just argue your points. This is the reason debates start.

"Are you a moron?Comedy? The Bible isnt something you read for fun.You read it to recieve spiritual knowledge and to read about Christ and his acts on earth.Who ever said that christians didnt have a sense of humor?I made the "Post some jokes"thread for crying out loud!"

A) No I'm not.

B) Yes. That whole line is meant in humour. Unfair to the Christians as you have made it apparant that all humans need to get a sense of humour. Making a "post some jokes" thread doesn't make you a Christian with a sense of humour. It depends on how you take the jokes and well, we've obviously found your threshold haven't we?

On topic however,

I think E.T is an extremely overrated movie. "Awww man you gotta see E.T!" When I watched it about 3 years ago, really lame.

The praise bestowed upon LOTR movies is merited, because there is no other fantasy novel movie adaptation that could touch it on sheer direction, costume and set design, cinematography..nothing. It's in a league of it's own.

Er.. Your own opinion - which unless I misread is what you just told everyone to bear in mind when they made comments about how over-rated a movie is.

FACT: LOTR is desperately over-rated because it took a work of genius and turned it into a pile of steaming cinematic horsecrap. It's a Bland epic with no heart that depends on computer game standard animation battle scenes to give it it's majestic sweep, rather than subtle nuances of character that defined the book. It's a disgrace that deserves to be burned.

Oh wait, I'm mistaken: not a fact - simply my opinion... one I know thousands upon thousands disagree with me about... but still mine.

So the question is - what do you think is the most over-rated AND WHY!

Have an opinion, back it up - I'll respect anyones POV if they can argue why they think that way.

Notice how I didn't say a word about the quality of the literary adaptation itself because I haven't read the books? Has it ever had any competition, anyhow?

Now correct me if I am wrong here, but you would liken the WETA studio's "MASSIVE" CGI program to that of a computer game? If that were so, it's fair to say you're impossible to impress or please. This wouldn't be the first instance in which I thought that, though.

Gofather
Moulin Rouge
Chicago
My Big fat Greek Wedding
ET

Nah - not impossible top please, just - very hard.

I'm no big fan of CGI in movies - Give me LEGEND over LOTR any day, no matter how scary you think the balrog looks, it's as nothing to Tim Curry dressed in latex. - just my opinion yanno.

You did make a bit of a blanket "I will hear no argument" statement about LOTR - which i though needed pointing out since you were appealing for just the opposite from everyone else. Sorry if I came on all gangbusters.

At least Im not saying GODFATHER is over-rated!

most over rated movie ever
schindlers list

I'll say it, Godfather is over rated. Boring, long, drawn out. Just a bunch of fat, ugly italians whining about respect. At least when Rodney Dangerfield does it, he has a punchline and some entertainment values.

but then you also think Tobe Hooper can direct movies, so...do the math....

No, I said he was a one hit wonder, but he still deserved credit for that one good film of his.

Quit spoling my good lines with all that "fact" stuff.
