Yup, that's not a totally emotional and illogical reaction at all. While I'm for foodstamps, just like I am for welfare, there has been an onslaught of abuse for those two programs. Now I'm not sure I would have slashed food stamps but I definitely would have increased some kind of oversight for both programs and added a harsh penalty for abuse.

There's always someone to blame. MAyhaps someone needs to look at the bigger picture. =-/

Democrats tried to pass welfare extensions, but they were blocked by the republican house. It's not propaganda, it's common knowledge that the right wing platform is against too many "entitlement" programs.

BTW, the democrats have to care about the poor. That's where their votes come from.

My characterization of the situation is spot on

I have a friend who makes more money than I do and who lives with his parents who's on food stamps because it's so damn easy for just about anyone to apply for them and get them.
