They think of plenty, but ultimately you need a speedster to compete against a speedster.

The main villains so far have been speedsters. We need a Big Bad that isn't a speedster.

True they're only a threat due to PIS, but as Flash gets so much faster every season, the PIS against a non-speedster will just get even worse.

In any case we've only had 2 "main" villains so far. But I'm sure Gorilla Grodd and King Shark will be back. I think they're just too expensive to have as the main season villain.

Not so sure about King Shark. They kind of reduced his threat level by having Barry defeat him out on open water, where he should be at his strongest.

Grodd, on the other hand, was almost definitely set up to return. And likely with some impact, if the whole bit with the empire of intelligent gorillas thing gets expanded upon.

Damn there's a picture of yet another speedster. Okay this looks worrying now.

Yep, a Black Flash, rumored to possibly be Daniel West. So looks like yet another speedster villain.

Plus if this entire thing is meant to sort of merge the Supergirl show...well Supergirl and some of her villains from that show could definitely be huge threats to Flash.

So in a way perhaps this change will allow them to add more villains that aren't necessarily just Flash villains. Though it's certainly true they didn't need to retcon the universe in order to do that, but meh who knows. For all we know everything might be undone by the end of the season opener.

Well, if they do merge Supergirl into the Earth 1 continuity, that will certainly change things. As you mentioned, Supergirl actually has a rogues gallery that can provide a credible threat to the Flash, plus s2 of Supergirl is getting a full-on, more fleshed out Superman too (at least from what I have read). It's kind of crazy that it all started off with a very grounded-in-reality season 1 of Arrow.

And for all we know, not that much has changed. As Rip Hunter said, time wants to happen, especially really big, memorable events. And Barry becoming the Flash, and everything he did since he gained his abilities, would certainly count as that.

Could be a 2 way thing as well, where all these Flash speedsters hop over to Supergirl.

Also remember these multiple speedsters might only exist in the alternate timeline Barry created, so they could all get wiped away in 1 move as well.

Eh, some parts I liked..absolutely f*cking hated what they did to Cisco.

Though wasn't Barry good friends with Iris prior to his mother dying so why would saving her mean they never knew each other?

I'm glad they have Thawne back though. I prefer him over Zoom.

The Arrow trailer just made me think of Expendables 3.

Yeah, it certainly looks like we're in for some interesting Flash/Reverse-Flash interaction next season. And I find their whole rivalry/conflict a lot more interesting than the whole thing with Zoom. Zoom was basically just "I'm crazy and have daddy issues, and I have powers, so now I want to destroy everything." Thawne's motivation for becoming who he is and his reasons for going after Barry, as well as his actual influence on Barry's development and character, just feel more compelling to me, personally.

^ Oh yeah, RF >>> Zoom as a villain no doubt.

Yeah, all Zoom had going for him mainly was the edgy-cool factor, but liked him for what he was, though RF is more compelling.

Anyway, the trailer only further strengthened my dislike for the premise of season 3. What they did to Cisco too, bleh.
