Power has nothing to do with possession. You'd have to prove resistance on top of the fact Harry possesses magical abilities Superman doesn't possess.
He possessed him long enough for the win and the only reason he resisted was due to Dumbledore's coaching.

Comic book movie amps and on screen amps are different. Clark went to the direct sun to get some powerback to lift the island because he was drained from the beating and the stabbing.
Clark also is shown to amp and heal in Smallville when he is severely wounded after being hurt with kryptonite. Obviously they are not going to have him fly all the way to the sun in Returns because he had a job to do, and in Smallville in those showings he could not fly. So yes the sun amp/heals him back to normal power on screen showings.
