Not eating meat is not necessarily unhealthy nor healthy. It's just that; not eating meat. You should know such a basic fact of life, given your medical background.

Not eating meat is unhealthy for young organisms during that period when anabolic processes are more active than catabolic. It's hard to bring enough level of proteins to the children (like astner) when vegetable ones are mostly in beans, like soya.. and it tastes awful 😬

I thought peanuts, pulses, green veggies and proper amounts of milk/egg would constitute sufficient protein intake? Also, soya and other beans when cooked right can taste plenty good.

I was never into dietetics.. but some aminoacids are uncommon in plants.. and humans can't produce them on their own.. 😬 but not gonna argue. I'm not interested in this topis THAT much 😄

The amino acids you're referring to are known as the essential amino acids: isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine; and the only two that vegetarians need to pay special attention to are lysine and methionine, which you get through beans and rice respectively.

Not that it matters because fish and shellfish contains all of them. A pescetarian diet is also very rich in unsaturated fats, which won't clog your arteries.
