You could also think it's wrong that fish have scales. It's not really something that lends to absolute judgments about your mental well being when you have an exclusive diet.

It's not arbitrary. Fish have a far less developed limbic system than mammals, meaning that they don't feel pain (physical or psychological) in the same sense a dog does.
