Game of Thrones FOR PEOPLE WHO'VE READ THE BOOKS

Read that again.

why do we need for tyrion to be his biological father for the irony to remain?

I find it delicious to think of tywin's shade being humiliated further

-found dead with whore in bed
-smell/smile at his funeral
-everyone finds out he didn't pay his debts
-he was right about being cuckolded because he knew the mad king was boning his wife and there wasn't a thing he could do about it. so much so that the king had his way with her AT THEIR WEDDING ffs.

and in the end tyrion is not cursed as a kin-slayer, is free of his false father's shade, and gets to ride a dragon like he always dreamed of. maybe he'll even get to bang dany because screw jon snow. (targ incest marriage and all)

Intriguing theory! I had never considered that.

i've never been so excited and convinced by a fan theory as this. also it hints that grrm acually may not be out to rip our hearts into as many pieces as possible just for the lulz.

charles dance will be back next season, perhaps only as a stinky smiling corpse but many are speculating that he may appear in one of bran's green dreams. sean bean also expressed an interest in shooting some flashback scenes so who knows.

So since this is the closest to a ASOIAF thread that gets much activity, I shall post here! Answer the following questions so I might pick your brains.

Lyanna??

That was unexpected. Why?

She does sound like a cool lady.

I'd make people guess at my favorite but I'm not well known around these parts.

Sure she does. I imagine a grown up and slightly toned down version of Arya.

At that point though, it just makes more sense to like Arya.

Then again, there's also the seducing and cheating with a married man who has kids thing. The only real insight we have to Lyanna's character is comparisons to Arya's attitude and a bunch of dudes being in love with her.

Do you go to any other forums? Like an RE or Silent Hill forum? I'm pretty sure I recognize your name.

I'm finally done with the books, and read through all the pages of this thread. Here's what I thought of the different POV arcs.

Jon died. I really have no more stake in this series outside of Arya. Just when he was gonna go to war against Ramsey with his rogue Nights Watch members/wildlings. That was badass. On the other hand, he basically announced to the entire watch that he was abandoning his duties and leading wildlings and other deserters against House Bolton, which rules the north. That is literally the complete opposite of what the NW has been doing for thousands of years, so he kind of screwed himself Ned Stark style. It wasn't smart, but it still sucks. There goes the R+L=J theories too. Kind of a bullshit red herring tbh. My favorite character is gone again, and it's sad. Especially since it happened under such similar circumstances.

I'm glad Theons regained his sanity and identity. I was surprised he got reunited with Asha too. Why cant the Starks get that treatment? Jaime and Cersie did, and so did Asha and Theon, but Arya and Robb/Cat gets screwed along with Bran/Jon? Sucks. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Theon is still screwed. The chapter he showed up in is called The Sacrifice, and that lead me to believe that Asha was gonna get burned by Stannis. Instead, Theon pops up. That doesn't bode well for him, considering probably everyone there wants him dead for being a turncloak. Maybe he can avoid it once he spills on the Karstarks, and Bran/Rickon being alive.

And then there's Quentyn Martell. Man, that blew. I thought he was gonna be the underdog that came out on top to blow everyone's mind. I actually thought his dragon taming idea might work. I even assumed the dragon fire wouldn't burn him thanks to whatever Targ blood he has. I assumed he would take after his father and be an underestimated genius with a big plan. Instead, he was a dreamer and kind of a fool. He was a decent kid though. I was actually kind of rooting for him. His last thought before he got torched was hilarious though (Oh...). Him suffering for 3 days after before dieing, was not. For once, I wish Dorne wouldn't get the short end of the stick. Poor Doran lost his little brother to Lannisters and his only son to Targaryens.

Speaking of Targs, the Aegon twist was one of my favorites in A Ball of Beasts. Hopefully Doran will join Aegon and abandon Dany. I cant stand Dany anymore. She was retarded and annoying as sh*t in this book. Its also kind of lame that we waited so long for her to come to Westeros and raise her banners, but instead, a new Targ comes out of nowhere and does exactly that. Screw Dany. Onwards to Aegon of House Targaryen, seventh of his name, rightful heir to the Iron Throne, King of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, may he long phucking wreck house.

Tyrions chapters were overall kind of uneventful. I liked him meeting up with Jorah though. Jorah becoming an absolute beast with a demon mask tattoo and whip scars all over his back is pretty cool. Hopefully he gets back to Dany. He used the be one of the best parts of her story. He is super different in the book though. More of a brute, and kind of a dick. Still the most interesting, smartest and most strategy savvy person in Danys group though.

Ser Barristan is the SH*T. That is all I need to say about his chapters.

I liked Danys last chapter. Her realizing all her screwups was long past due (getting rid of Jorah, staying in Meereen so long). Its about time she left behind all the 'these are my children, I am their mommy!' bullshit in favor of being a conqueror like every other Targ always has been. Looks like shes gonna start by killing the Khals that abandoned Drogo back in Thrones like she originally promised. This will hopefully allow her to take control of all the Dothraki. Then she can go get her Unsullied and the rest of her army, wreck Victarion and his Greyjoy fleet (or turn them to her cause), and get across the sea to Westeros. Where she will hopefully go to war with Aegon, Stannis, Sansa as Queen of the North and the Iron Throne.

Arya's chapters were disconnected from everything else. I like how quickly she's progressing in her FM training. Still, there is no way she has a happy ending. FM cant kill people they previously knew, but thats her entire reason for being there. There is no way shes gonna abandon her list. I see her coming to Westeros, wiping out her list, and then getting hunted down and killed by the FM for breaking the rules. She's my favorite character now that Jon is dead, and it seems like she's destined to be screwed even harder than he and Ned were. Sucks.

The new Greyjoys are awesome too. Victarion is a viking badass with a demon fist. Euron is yet another smart character who knows how to play the game of thrones, and I like the whole one eyed pirate thing he has going. I cant help but see Victorian getting screwed though. Either he gets killed by Dany and her dragons, or he gets played and screwed over by Euron. He's too slow to have any real influence. Hopefully we get a badass fight between him and someone else eventually. Thats about the best we can hope. Also, here is one of my favorite fan drawings of any character in the series. It's just too badass.

I don't really care for Asha as a character, but I loved her chapters just because we got to follow Stannis. His entire conflict with the Boltons is awesome to read. They haven't even begun fighting, but the odds just keep going back and forth. One second, Stannis and his army are marching into a slaughter while freezing to death in the snow. The next second, Boltons army is thrown into complete disarray, his ace up his sleeve (Karstark betrayal) is going to be revealed, and the Ball is back in Stannis' court. Stannis is the man. He wrecked Victarion and the Greyjoy fleet in a naval battle during the Greyjoy Rebellion. He held off against the Mace Tyrells siege on Storms End throughout the majority of Roberts Rebellion with very limited supplies. He laid seige to Dragonstone, the Targaryens seat, won, and was charged as the new Lord of Dragonstone because he was considered one of the only Lords strong enough to keep the Targ loyalists there in check. He he laid siege to and almost defeated the Iron Throne in kings landing. The main reason this failed was because the onion knight begged him to leave Mellisandre behind. If she was there, the whole wildfire trick would have failed, and he would have taken the city long before Tywin showed up effective defeating the Lannisters. His little leech curse has made him to only surviving original king from the War of the Five Kings. Now, hes about to wreck house Bolton, in the north, during the winter. With the backing of the Iron Bank, the Iron Throne is as good as his. This dude has defeated every house (excepts Starks, and I suppose Lannisters though he would have won if not for circumstance), in their own elements. Homefield advantage completely pissed on. Stannis is one of the biggest beasts in this entire series.

The epilogue was one of the best chapters of the book. I was wondering wtf Varys was up to the entire time. It sucks he had to kill Kevan. One of the only decent Lannisters. Still, good to know he still has some massive conspiracy in the works. Him backing Aegon is good. It gives me more hope that Aegon will do well. He's pulling strings to get Aegon on the Iron Throne, while Littlefinger is pulling strings to make Sansa the Queen of the North. I can see the majority of the North rallying behind Sansa while the South rallies behind Aegon (as Dorne already seems like it will). Dany bringing her Dothraki, slaves, Greyjoys(?) and Unsullied from the south, and Stannis with his endless ragtag sellsword and pirate army/backing of the Iron Bank will be a badass fourway war.

To top it all off, and white raven from the citadel heralding the change in seasons arrived. Winter has finally come! We've waited so long.

Anyways, in the short term, looking forward to the Targ vs Greyjoy and Baratheon vs Bolton battles we have coming in the next book. According to tWoW wiki, the next book is gonna start off with those.

I'm also glad that I read the combined reading of Feast and Dance (Ball of Beasts). I would have hated having to go back in time for the other perspectives if read the original way. This book was massive, and it was a great read. It wasn't anywhere near as amazing as Storm of Swords, but it had its moments. Now I guess I'll join the rest of you in waiting for Winds of Winter.

i've learned thus far that when a stark dies, grrm will let you know with absolute certainty that they're very very dead. unless winds of winter opens with jon's severed head on a pike, i wouldnt count him out.

Oh, he is likely dead. However, there just so happens to be a witch who can raise the dead conveniently nearby...

He could also pull a Fitz and warg Ghost.

In the unedited edition of the book there was an extra Jon chapter that was taken out, so he's definitely coming back somehow.

Completely off of the current topic of discussion, I can't be the only one who hates almost every single visual representation of Dany. Emilia Clarke does a fine job of the role but I will never see Emilia Clarke as Daenerys.

Daenerys has:
*Almost literally silver hair, not bleach blonde.
*She has purple eyes not generic blue ones(same goes for Viserys).
*She has at best A cup breasts routinely described as almost nonexistent, not the C Cups seen on the show.
*She is NOT a woman, she is 13 from book 1 and the series only spans a few years.

Emilia Clarke is attractive though, while book Daenery's wouldn't be. So everybody wins.

-Wouldn't have minded if they silvered up her hair 👆
-Purple contacts would have looked stupid/fake 👇
-C cups > A cups, generally speaking 👇
-Adult casting > child/early teen 👇

edit: Except the pedos, they lose

CGI can and does work wonders, do you really think the WW eyes look fake?

Larger breasts contrary to popular belief does not make a betterfemale character.

So Arya, Sansa and Bran are poorly cast?

Yes

You're the one angry over breast size and think it's an issue, not me

All three are well cast and all three actors are older than their book counterparts

Is anyone else signed up for the sight? It sends short clips every few weeks of season 5.

This clip had Viserion free, so I think season 5 is going to encompass all of Feast and Dance. It also had a clip of Theon with longer hear looking more haggard than before, a child playing with a stag toy, and a clip of the holy sept in Kings Landing.

I really hope season 5 takes everything from those books and feels as fast paced as season 4.
