Movies? Not many, i tend to dislike some more than others... Movie Storm and Cyclops i hate the most... Movie Cyclops i really hate...
Comics (In order of favourite):
Cyclops, Colossus, Psylocke, Blink, and then everyone else...

OK, I will say it...How??What do you believe they can do that would make a difference, and if not that, then what would make a movie that you like??
Simple, faithfulness to the characters...
If an animated series can do it, so can a movie with a multi million budget...
Poncho, if you and i were given the xmen movie and that budget we'd improve on the last two movies easily...

Granted, You and I were given the keys to the movie we would do everything in our power to remain true to the original story and characters, but.....
Keep in mind the two main factors that we would be faced with. The main one being time.. to do our research and get just what were looking for would take a lot longer than the 3+ years its taking them.. the big one, but not as important for us would be finding the right people to act those characters out. The great thing about it is that we could use relatively unknowns to do it, but still we would end up cutting more than we keep. One of the thing s that can drive me crazy is the part of a DVD where the director or whomever, comes out and tells you what or why he cut something from a movie. M Knight is one of the worst IMO because he cuts parts that seem to fit almost every time. I'll give the guy a B- for structure and talent evaluation, but a F-- for movie continuity

The thing is we dont need to do the research, we know the comics... off the top of our heads we could come up with at least twenty storylines...
The acting is the hard part... but if the script is good we'd get who we wanted (who'd say no to working with Stewart and McKellan?), and reading KMC we have all the suggestions for actors we need...
I dont think it would take three years at all...
That all sounds great. I do not agree that every single detail would improve the movies. This was said much earlier in the post, the movies are to grab a new audience that does not know the X-Men. We all know comics and movies are totally different. There are actor and actress that can portray some of these characters, but if people are looking for an exact replica of the character that we see in the comic, you are out of luck. Instead of viewing the comics as the actual script, look at more of a blueprint for a script. Given the history of X-Men, it's more complicated making it into a movie; consider the difference between the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.
We watch the 4 get their powers. Before that time they were a group of long time friends going on a mission in space etc. etc. The reader and come the summer, the viewer sees them become the Fantastic Four. With the X-Men, we don't know how, when, or why, we just know these individuals become mutants. The reader finds answers to these and other questions later in the comic. The viewer however does not have the same time frame. The director has at best two hours and fifteen minutes to introduce something that took years and over 5 different teams in the comic. As a comic book fan, there are some changes that should be made. As a fan of the movie with a story comic background, I think they are doing an ok job.
There is a good point pr1983, The fact that we have all this knowledge of how things are suppose to be, doesn't mean that this would transfer to the big screen. The secret to success is to hope for 30M, pray for 40M, but bring in 80M. Do you think that we purist, and comic freaks could fill enough houses to pay in that kinda money.

yes... comics are not a script, they are at best an outline... a script needs more depth and character interaction...
A good, entertaining story that is also faithful to the comics will bring punters in...
My main point is that you can make a movie that is faithful to the comics and enjoyable to the general public...
Well, Hank McCoy, also called Beast, was easily seen on the TV screen during the movie, and most people saw the name "Remy LeBeau" on the computer screen when Mystique was hacking into files...if I had to choose between the two, it'd be Gambit though, definately.
"Multiple Man" was actually covered quite nicely in the "X-2" novelization. He is a student there and was meeting Theresa Cassidy by the fountain in the school courtyard when he accidently fell, producing about a dozen more of him. Surprising Cassidy with this, she accidently screamed, shattering most of the windows of the mansion facing her. It was a rather humorous way of showing their powers.
Also, in the novelization they went far more in-depth with what happened to people whose mutant genes were somewhat latent when the Cerebro Xavier was using targeted mutants. It told about how Hank McCoy was working on a lab project when he was suddenly consumed in pain, and blue hair started sprouting from him. They then went to another scene in which a man named Remy LeBeau was in a rather shady card game when he was affected, and he looked down to see the cards in his hands were suddenly glowing.
I'm holding out hope that Gambit will be in X-2, but if he is there is the one problem...how is he going to get close to Rogue if she's with the pansy? I mean, Bobby? I love Romy (Rogue/Remy) so if that doesn't happen I'll be sad. *sighs*
I think we all figured out about the Phoenix thing by now, haven't we? I have a friend who kept saying they were going to introduce Nocturne. ~.~ I had to hit her over the head with a newspaper repeatedly for that idiotic statement. It would be completely awesome if Nocturne could get involved...but I really don't see that happening.
Some sentinels would definately make things more interesting...
Meh. I'm done ranting for now. Toodles!
