Also, I'm pretty sure Shane Black doesn't give a shit about how much money this movie made in relation to IM3... which is supremely ironic because he actually DOES have a personal stake involved.

Actually he does. In a recent interview with IGN he justified most people liking the movie because of how much money it made.

But luckily Disney/Marvel are smarter than that, and realise there's more factors to the box office than just the quality of that film. Ergo why they've handed the Avenger films over to the Russos instead of handing them over to Black.

I so wish I could forget Iron Man 3 movie.

Got the dvd with some magazine. F*ck, couldn't see that abomination of a movie in one sitting. It was just so bad. F*ck the Mandarin twist, that wasn't even the worst.

The only other comic movie of recent years that has sucked so much was TASM 2.

yeah, but money made isn't confirmation of anything.

Twilight is one of the highest grossing franchises of all time... which, I'm sure you'd agree means exactly jack and shit.

Unless you have a personal stake in their success or lack their of, the constant talk about how much money these movies make is dumb.

It's money that keeps these films getting made. The earlier plan for the DCEU starting with Green Lantern was scrapped because Green Lantern flopped.

Avengers only happened because Iron Man, Thor and Captain America were all hits.

Transformer movies won't let Michael Bay go because he keeps making them money.

And wasn't it good that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did bad enough at the box office for Marvel to get Spidey back?

So it's interesting to look at the box office figures, and nice to see audiences rewarding good movies and punishing bad ones with their box office dollars, so that studios take away the right message for future instalments like Sony did with TASM2.

actually, that doesn't have anything to do with THIS movie.

okay. cool story.

This really won't reach IM3 at the box office. I can hear Shane Black laughing and just want to punch him.

this fckin movie made a $1b, btw.

whether or not these movies keep getting made has absolutely zero to do with how well they do in relation to each other. For the studio, the money each movie makes is in a vacuum... this movie made a $1b, it's a massive success to the people in charge.

The only people who care about how the box office numbers measure up against each other, is you and people like Quan who use it at some kind of confirmation bias.

according to your logic, studios should have stopped production on all comic book movies after that shit heap of a movie Fan4astic Four flopped harder than a European soccer player last year.

studios/producers/directors/etc. don't give a damn about the money other movies make as long the one they're personally involved with do well.

That was just in relation to your Shane Black not giving a crud about IM3's box office comment. He does. Because the box office justifies all the crap he did with that film.

True story actually.

Yeah that's true. But again, it's not like I said this wasn't a massive success.

Actually a lot of people here discuss the box office figures. It's simply just something to discuss when talking movies.

It won't change the fact that Civil War is possibly my favorite Marvel film to date.

Really not sure how you get that from my logic.

All I said was Shane Black is laughing somewhere at Civil War not grossing as much as IM3 (and costing $50mill more on top) and I wanna punch him in the face for that.

It does affect how much the studio might put out for production if a movie isn't titled Iron Man or Avengers. This movie cost the studio $250 million to make but it's return on investment may only equal that of IM 3 which was 3 years ago. The next big movie they have will not be $250 million unless it's has Iron Man or Avengers in the title.

This is the Batman dilemma DC has. The good thing about Marvel is that they realize the can make their other characters into icons through quality movie and actors. It would be great if Cap 3 could beat I'M 3 by a large margin so will confirm Marvel's point about the quality of a movie rather than just certain title character.

Shane Black is usually REALLY good. IM 3 is his only bad movie, from my memory. I think that has to do with how Disney wanted to go about making the film.

Nah I think Marvel just gave him too much freedom on that one. Marvel know they did wrong by the fans on that one, hence why they did the "real Mandarin" 5min short, and why they never gave another Marvel film to Black, which on paper seems insane if you just look at the numbers IM3 did.

Sadly it's return will be less than IM3, and IM3 cost less to make as well.

Thankfully though IM3 didn't sell anywhere near as well on Home Entertainment, but hopefully Civil War will, and I'm sure Marvel looks at those figures as well.

awesome

No, my opinion changed just as his did with Deadpool but somehow he is hypocritical. Your hatred of me clouds your judgment, loser.

Continue to call a movie that grossed over $1 billion ww, and was well received by both FANS AND CRITICS a bad movie golgo. Newsflash, just because you and a small contingent of people on KMC hate it doesn't make it a bad movie. You're so desperate it's sad really.

The Iron Man 3 hate circlejerk is almost humorous to watch. A couple of KMC'rs getting off to eachother by bashing it years after release.

Comic book fans are among the whiniest p.ussies in history.

LOL @ IM3 being received well by fans. Oh and it grossed over a Billion? Wow, I guess that makes it better than Winter Soldier 😂

Oh and so impressive it grossed over a Billion but then sold less Dvd's than MOS. Clearly people couldn't wait to own it 😂

And clearly just a couple of people on KMC who hate it:

Dt really can't be objective and assumes since he hated the film it's a fact it's a crappy film. He can't let it go and yet has the irony to call himself s die hard marvel fan despite leading the hater parade.

I think every day he wakes up, DT gets off to a pile of ash that used to be IM3. Well, that and probably a pristine copy of The Phantom Menace.
