ROTJ Luke vs ROTS Anakin

Started by RJ 2.04 pages

Anakin. He is way too fast for Luke.

So I guess Obi-Wan> Anakin> Luke? I mean Obi-Wan did defeat Anakin in ROTS

To be fair, that was more due to Anakin's arrogance and pulling a move that gave Obi-Wan a massive opening rather then Obi being a superior combatant to Anakin

Luke wins.

Only means anything in terms of potential to become powerful

Does a decent job of keeping up with Obi-Wan

Based on?

Says the guy who thinks Khan or Voldemort>Superman

False. He had a higher count and showed greater feats in combat.

Obi is extremely old at this point. Context.

Obi lets Vader attack him in the end.

His feats of speed in episode three when compared to the later films.

😂

Quit going off topic and pouting about my supported opinions.

I dunno. Saying that is kind of a little disservice to Obi-Wan's efforts throughout the entire fight.

For the trillionth time, Anakin had Obi Wan on the ropes almost the entire fight and Obi Wan was known for his ridiculous defense. Obi Wan is no slouch: he was among the very best of the Jedi.

Still, Anakin had him on the ropes and Obi Wan was working to barely stay alive. It wasn't until Anakin decided to get arrogant up in dat b*tch that he lost.

As for this thread, George Lucas himself indirectly stated the Vader was shitty compared to his prime. Do any of you remember Lucas' words about the fighting being improved in the Prequel Trilogy? Something about a barely trained Jedi and a slow and Cumbersome Cyborg not being comparable to the Jedi at the height of their power.

So, no, Vader was never canonically intended to be better than Anakin. That's only some EU shit.

I get all of that...but lets not forget Obi-Wan sort of put Anakin in that ridiculous position. If we didn't know about Obi-Wan's bromance for Anakin one could say he baited the bastard into jumping. He was always aware of his surroundings, granted to stay alive and escape Anakin's onslaught.

As for the EU...I'm not going there. Nope. Nope. Nope. Fuq dat.

Yup, more arrogance from Anakin while Obi Wan was thinking about what was going on.

He didn't bait him. He pleaded with him not to do so. He was torn up inside and didn't finish him off when he had the chance.

I say the truth is between both your positions. Obi Wan knew what he was doing but didn't want to do it.

Obi didn't want him to but knew if he did jump he would end the fight brutally. He didn't want to have to crush Anakin but he did.

Which is exactly what I said? I just said it would be really easy to think Obi-Wan baited him if we did not know the truth behind his feelings.

Wonder how the saga would have gone down if Obi finished him off right there.

One couldn't say he baited him though. That is my point.

Vader actually became cool after the suit. Pre suit ruined Vader for me.

Ok.

And I agree. Well Vader was balls in RotS barring the "Nooooo"

Its fkn episode 1 and 2 that completely ruin him over

I know we could count Anakin and Vader as being different characters...but god damn it Anakin was so poorly developed it ruins Vader. I really dont know wtf Lucas was thinking.

Anakin was emotionally a wreck by the time he fought Obi wan. He wasn’t the same person or fighter. If Obi wan had fought a light side Anakin he would have definitely lost.

People also seem to forget that Yoda told Luke no more training needed and sent him to go face Vader. Luke wasn't as untrained as people are saying. There was no reason for Yoda to send Luke to face Vader if he didn't think he was ready.

Didn't look like Yoda would be able train him anyway. He could've just told Luke what he wanted to hear. *Shrug*Or he probably meant it. I dunno lol.

Luke could still see them as force Ghost so I do not see why he still could not have been trained. Obi wan was directing him all the time since ESB. I am posting quotes from the movies that show they felt Luke was ready.

Quotes from ROTJ and ESB:

Yoda: Stopped they must be; on this all depends. Only a fully trained Jedi Knight, with the Force as his ally, will conquer Vader and his Emperor. If you end your training now - if you choose the quick and easy path as Vader did - you will become an agent of evil.

Yoda: No more training do you require. Already know you, that which you need.
Luke: Then I am a Jedi.

Yoda: No. Not yet. One thing remains. Vader. You must confront Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be. And confront him you will.

Darth Vader: I see you have constructed a new light saber. Your skills are complete. Indeed you are powerful as the Emperor has foreseen.

Yoda: Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Luke... Luke... do not... do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor or suffer your father's fate you will. Luke, when gone am I... the last of the Jedi will you be. Luke, the Force runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned, Luke. There is... another... Sky... walker.
[Yoda dies]
