It's true, but getting a child to eat something they don't want is more difficult than it seems. Everyone has something they don't like. Myself included. It's been my experience that some of the healthiest foods tend to be the less popular foods as well.

We do put veggies, wheat brans, low fat milk, oatmeal and stuff of that nature but there are limits to what they will eat.

The problem with kids is they just don't want to eat healthy foods in general, no matter how much you train them to eat those stuff.

It must be the milk or something. It's like they're programmed to eat unhealthy foods.

Of course, we should take into account that this feeding problem with kids is a 'first world problem'.
Poor kids from impoverished families have no choice but to feed on the scraps given to them by their parents.

Didn't seem like it. Seemed like you were agreeing with me.

I think the reason children crave unhealthy foods is due to evolution. Waaay back in the day, food was much more scarce so children that had an appetite to calorie dense food (such as nuts and wild berries) were more likely to survive so we ended up with a species whose children crave calorie dense food like cheesecakes, donuts, and potato products (crisps and so forth).

Healthy Eating today

Quinoa, Blueberries for for breakfast

Cold salad with soup and avocado on top for lunch.

I got an eye-roll form it. No smile or laugh. It is similar to what I would do to a bad-pun.

Yeah, but it was at your expense, so...you know...

While he weighs 143lbs... He's only 10. 😐
In Britain we call that 10 stone and 3 pounds.

Although I'm overweight now (mostly due to medication and alcohol), 10 to 11 stone is my healthy weight, which I was last year... and I'm 5'9.

I consider myself at an unhealthy weight but if I was 10 stone at 10 years old, I'd be really depressed. Really, really depressed.

I also calculated BMI (4'9 for height, which is average for a 10 year old, 10 stone 3, 10 years old, male) it said your kid was in the 99th percentile and very over weight.

Not good. ermm

I also calculated my own BMI and got 28.7, it also recommended I eat 1900-2000 calories and up my physical activities.

The busting balls was still there and sorry to hear that about your son, my daughter (almost 10) is the same way when it comes to fruits and veggies, she only eats bananas. She is a bread, pasta and rice eating machine. Frustrating at times.

Surprisingly she's not overweight at all though, actually extremely fit to the point you can see the small outlines of abdominals. She's taking after my genetics so far it seems, we'll see when she hit's puberty though.

We used to hide veggies and fruits in her meals. eg smashed yams in her pancakes, avocado in chocolate pudding (this one seems odd, but you can't taste it at all). There are many other "tricks" you could look up to get your son on a healthier diet if he's a stubborn eater and it's affecting his health

Gotta take it slow.

I think I would do better in a University setting.

It may be till I've reached my prime at 26 or 27, but if I change some bad habits I should earn a doctorate by 27. That's what's important.

I'll fix this GPA, and actually pace myself for a state college when I do.

I can get a scholarship if I do go to a state college, and greatly reduce the cost.

Work gets done, then I do something else. I'll have to take a week off the computer altogether before I start, just to make sure I keep it off when school starts.

When I don't take full time creds, I work, so I still need the time especially now that I'm getting into higher math.

Dadude, your son's gonna suffer a stroke at that rate.

Give him some slimming pills or something.

j/k.
I feel bad for your kid. It might soon (if it hasn't yet) lead to social and psychological problems as he grows older.

That's a solid one. It's a good one for keto as well. One of my fav desserts.

My son's BMI is 33 (it is what the Doc said when I asked). I do not know what his height is but I could use the BMI scale to figure that out.

Edit - He's 4'7".

He's also taller for his age. Not sure where you got that 4'9" number as my son is taller than all of his classmates except 2 of them (and they are girls...and girls mature faster than boys, generally).

Edti 2 - Average height for a 10 year old is 51 inches which is 4 feet 3 inches.

We had a talk about his weight and eating habits, last weekend. I was nice about it but I didn't try to coddle him about it, either. He understands there is an issue. I explained to him the thing about growing up and turning into a man and how the kids are going to get mean about his weight (and he won't get a date).

Too many of my old high school friends, who were very fat in high school, tell me how depressing and how much they struggled, socially, in high school due to their weight.

Currently, no kids give him trouble but I bet you this next school year, they will.

I should try this with my son.

Your daughter (and you) sound like me. I had a six pack as a kid (I thought I had raviolis stuck in my guts...oh ****...was I a ****ing moron as a small child but every one was). I was skinny...but I was also well built for a skinny little shit.

I was a pencil as a kid, couldn't gain weight no matter what I ate. Did get the ab lines around puberty though, maybe a little earlier.

Have you tried making fresh fruit drinks at home for your son? You can hide some veggies where it won't kill the taste and if you have to add a little white sugar so it taste more like a dessert/candy to him, that's a fair tradeoff.

****ing excellent idea! He loves my fruit smoothies (I always make mango with vanilla protein).

Maybe I could start doing that....

Man, I wish I could help, but I've always just had a perfect body. Comes natural, I guess.

Maybe you could spray DDM with some of your superior genetic material?

I had the same talk with my oldest daughter. It wasn't so much what she was eating as how much she was eating. I'm good with giving seconds but thirds and fourths was too much. She isn't overweight right now but I explained to her that those types of eating habits are hard to break later when metabolism doesn't save you anymore and weight gain is very likely.

Damn I ate good today

Breakfast was Chicken Breast, Egg Whites and a corn cake.

Chicken Alexander with pesto bread and vegetables in salad cream.

Do you guys want me to post pictures of my foods?
