Thor: Ragnarok

Thats pretty funny. "Send a raven" made me lol.

The comedy in first two was meh at best. I'm hoping for somethi g darker from this one. I'm usually not a feat or action junkie but this one defi itely needs to deliver on both. Thers nothing but the Hulk holding him back in this one so should be some destruction on a large scale.

Unfortunately, between the director and the information they have released, it seems they are going to make this more a comedy. It makes sense I guess. They tried making a fantasy epic with TDW and it backfired and resulted in probably Marvel’s weakest film yet. So instead of trying that again, it seems they are following in the footsteps of GotG which could still result in a great film albeit a disappointing adaptation of Ragnarok.

Yeah. Chris Yost will just have Hulk beating the shit out of everything and Im still hoping its good

I wish they'd go for purebred fantasy too but I'm not overly disappointed with the guardians of the galaxy approach they're taking. It's at least a unique take for a Thor property.

Yeah not sure why they're taking that approach when Asgard gives such a great opportunity for a real Epic fantasy pic.

Also the comedy aspect of TDW is what put that film down a notch IMO. On the other hand it worked really well in Thor1, but that was as a one off seeing Thor interact with humans.

I want something more myth heavy, they really cranked the Asgardians are aliens bullshit up to 11 in TWD, and that really killed the movie for me.

Yeah, pretty much. If theyre gonna go the sciency alien route they should at least flesh some things out. I mean, explain why a random alien (Thor) looks human and unlike the rest of his race can shoot massive amounts of electricity and control the weather and take nuclear blasts etc. If they arent deities or mystical in nature, then how come everything they do looks exactly like freakin magic. Yeah, I get the one and the same crap. Well, if its just science, and Thor doesent seem to be an Asgardian scientist, wouldnt everybody have access are ability to create Mjolnir like weapons. Or do "science sorcery" like Loki? I think "theyre gods" is much easier.

I guess I really don't see the problem with it. Even in the myths, the Asgardians are technically extraterrestrials. At the end of the day, it's really only a title especially since they are capable of the same powers as the comics.

Seems Taika Waititi would like to do a 4th Thor film, If this one does really well and people like it.

I hope so. After TDW being kind of Meh, it'd be great if we get 2 new Thor films on par with or superior to the first.

If this Thor/Hulk team mashup is good, sure, bring on another, more Hulk is good. Especially since Disney-Marvel can't do a solo Hulk film due to rights, iirc.

They can do it (given they have done it), but they'd have to share some of the profits with Universal IIRC. And Marvel don't need to share anything not named Spider-Man.

Asgardians were always aliens. Even in comics they more or less do combine science and mysticism.

These are obviously magical beings who live in an obviously magical realm who also have access to advanced technology. That more or less describes the comic book versions too.

I had no problem with the humor in TDW. You can do a fantasy movie with some humor in it. Humor doesn't take away from the fantasy aspects. With all that said..a movie like Ragnarok should be the darkest of the Thor films since it deals with their version of the Apocalypse. Though I wouldn't mind some light humor in the very beginning of the movie before things get serious.

Also the problem is one of the most popular characters is Loki and his personality type is pretty much one of those people with a dry wit and most of the humor comes from him.

Though unlikely to happen by this point I think it'd be pretty cool if MCU Thor actually became a god by revealing his mom's identity.

Hulk and Thor is a great idea. Now my claim that Hulk was the teams powerhouse over Thor will be proven. Expect for me to rub it in, D. Thor.

When it comes to pure physicality then yes Hulk is definitely the team power house.

Hulk is stronger but Thor is more powerful.

Hulk will need alien armour and weapons to go toe to toe with Thor, which will prove regular Hulk was never his equal. I'm calling it.

Either way there will be massive trolling by the usuals.
