Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Apparently there's going to be a documentary about the George Miller Justice League film that almost was, looking forward to it.

Probably be a lot like "Jodorowsky's Dune" documentary, which I enjoyed.

From what I've read, this film just reboots the second and the talking in the intro "oil wars" etc seem to indicate that the past is the same. iirc, Max also has a flash back of his child being killed? Maybe not though, as their are some holes.

His car in the beginning of FR still has the front valance, which I know he lost in the very beginning of RW/MM2 when he rammed another car. So the film is definitely before the events of RW/MM2 and the events of RW/MM2 couldn't take place now exactly the same, as his car was completely wrecked in FR.

So I'm guessing reboot/revision/retcon of film 2, with plot holes that we're just meant to ignore.

What about the 3rd one? Is that retconned? Not seen that one, so wondering if I should.

Again, I'm assuming the events of Beyond Tunderdome never took place, as MM:FR changed the story.

It's worth a watch if you're a fan of the franchise, as it's another chapter. But it's by far the worst film of the four and not a very good film.

Ah I'll give it a miss then. Just saw the first 2 recently before I see the new one. Found the first pretty boring (though I can see it's not exactly fair to judge the old movies by watching it for the first time in 2015). But RW was pretty cool.

The first was a low budget flick, something like $300K back in 1979, which my trusty inflation calculator tells me is about $975K today.

It apparently made $100mil, so it might be one of the most profitable flicks ever in that regard.

Wow

Was an entertaining concept anyway. I should enjoy Fury Road.

Mad Max was #1 on Tuesday, which means it still has awesome holds. Go MAX MAX!

Hell yeah, it was a slow day apparently, but that's still awesome. It also did better this Monday than the previous Monday (previous Monday was Memorial Day, but still).

I'm sure the execs are paying attention to this stuff.

I think stellar reviews and word of mouth is serving it well.

If I'm not mistaken, it has held the #1 spot 3 nights in a row. Granted, they were Tues, Wed, Thurs. But that's gotta be a good sign! 😑

I expected far better than this. Probably why I've never been a fan of the franchise.

Yea well, much like the originals I don't think this one set out to
Revolutionize cinema but instead, deliver a compelling thrill ride.
When you consider all of the practical effects and filing involved I'd be
Hard pressed to say the movie didn't deliver. In other words fans of
Action movies will relish the efforts involved in the filmmaking because it was made only for action fans.

Not enough boobies tho.

Definitely one of the best movie i've ever seen, the action is non stop an put together very well, the vehicles were off the hook, incredible scenes throughout, never seen an action film with this much action and intensity, should win a few awards,10/10

There's a little bit of buzz floating around about the success of the film and "confirmation" (not really) of the sequel, "The Wasteland." I don't take any of it as a greenlight, but it's still encouraging, none-the-less. Might be buzzing a little bit because I think the blu-ray/DVD comes out in about a week. Here's a short article:

George Miller confirms sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road

Also, apparently Charlize Theron might not be terribly excited to return for her character's movie, Furiosa. But anyway, there's an IMDB page up for the sequel now: Mad Max: The Wasteland

There's also another rumour that Miller may get to direct Man Of Steel 2 with Snyder busy with Justice League.

Oops didn't see the link already mentioned in the other post but still dam good news if it's true!

If you live in the States like I do then run out and pick up a copy of this. The blu-ray came out today... fu#k yes.

Still the best summer movie this year. Nothing comes close, imo.

Let me know if it's got the black and white cut. I want to see it in something close to what the director really wanted it to be as he initially wanted black and white with no other sound other than the score.

👆 Not only that, but also easily one of the best action films ever.

I have no knowledge of that, but no doubt that wouldn't fly since the studio was plunking out $150+ million. I have no doubt that we got the director's vision. They storyboarded the whole thing like a graphic novel, then filmed it as closely as possible. But to answer your question, I haven't explored everything on the discs yet, so I dunno.

Miller is quoted as saying the best version of it is black and white. He apparently "demanded" that version be included in home releases but seems to have been told no.

Just turn off the color on your tv when you watch it.

that sounds terrible, the audio part, i mean.

actually, the b&w part doesn't sound all that good either. This movie was vibrant and benefited tonally in a lot of places when the colors changed.
