He discussed how post apocalyptic movies tended to go with subdued colouring and they debated to go with either black and white or to ramp up and saturate the limited colours of the settings. The studio wanted the latter as they thought it would ensure a bigger audience and they're probably right. I just want to see why he preferred it. There's trailers with the colour removed but I don't think they'd have done the post production that he would have wanted so don't really represent his vision. A black and white version isn't simply about turning the colour down on your TV. A lot of work goes into changing light balancing to get the shot you want.
