Not really. People are going to hate Superman no matter how well presented he is. I know from personal experience.

Totally disagree with that. Admittedly I was one of those people that dislike and didn't much care for Superman and DC char. overall until after debating with the likes of Juntai, Avlon, etc. It's just too bad that it's totally the opposite right now when it comes to reading most Supe's thread, it just does not have that flair when reading those debates.

So you're a telepath now and know why I posted that?

I'm not a telepath, i was trying to be polite and not flame you.

You're usually more subtle in your bias, but the last couple days you've been wearing your colors quite openly.
You're seriously starting to lack in the one thing i've always liked about you.

Being willing to respect the opposition isn't the same as appeasement.

You lot are so desperate to shit all over the opposition that you remove any chance of actually winning people over. That has to change.

Respect is earned by good debating, not repeating the same shtick ad nauseum.

You need to be winners, and you can do that without being petty. You just have to be good enough.

And jesus no, if you think this is fine as it is, your standards are WAY too low. It's time to give this house a winning mentality, not a mob one.

No.

Believe me. Don't believe me. Either way it makes no difference.

I'm going to bring Superman some credibility on this forum, even if I have to do it myself.

It's not your honesty I'm questioning. It's how you remember things. People tend to remember the "good ol' days" better than they actually were. When I saw IFC was playing reruns of the old 60's BATMAN TV show, I was very happy, just seeing that started getting me thinking about how great it was sitting in front of my tiny TV as a kid watching the show. So, of course, I set the DVR to record it several times a day.

I start watching it, what happens? The show doesn't live-up to my memories. I cancelled the series recordings after watching about half a dozen episodes(there were dozens scheduled to play in a couple weeks time), erased what was left, and tried to forget it.

It's like people arguing, "Music was so much better in (insert decade here)" and cite all these classic songs, and then you dig-up what was popular on the charts back then and you definitely don't find ll the classic songs people say prove music was better back then.

So I'd like to see how things really were back in the "glory days" than what you remember.

I like everybody🙂 Superman, Thor and Delta!!

That's fine, but I really don't have the time or the inclination to try to find threads from 2007 that just happen to have the main "Superfans" of the time in them.

Carver was around back then, so no, it isn't nostalgia. Things were just better. Imagine, at one point people argued that Superman wasn't that fast AT ALL. Not that Diana was faster, but that Superman's speed in general was shit.

Do they still do that? Yes, but not nearly as much as they once did.

Superman and the fans were respected, even if they weren't liked. They weren't considered some sort of running joke, which is how things have gotten to.

Fair enough if you don't have time.

shrug

All jokes aside, I just want Superman to be treated with respect on the forum. For me, that isn't happening. It used to happen, and even though it wasn't total, it was still substantial.

Superman fans weren't reported for trolling nearly as much as they are now.

It wasn't a utopia, but it was better.

It seems that while people have reached a reasonable consensus when it comes to his power-level (high herald with the rest), people just don't feel like debating with the 'superman-crew'. It's like you said, they give -nothing- and every concession or agreement is treated with ridicule.

From what I can tell it's because they're a tasteless bunch. Something ain't right when Phil's the only likable of the bunch.

🙂

Yeah, Phil of all people. Back in the day, he was the wild-card of the group of us.

This thread is going from cute attempt at fun to downright not funny.

It's actually kind of sad because I've always liked Superman, Hulk, Wolverine. Somehow though it seems on these forums characters start to embody the fanbase that defends them instead of the characters themselves.

Sometimes I feel like KMC has become an almost tribal mentality and each has their own 'god. It's kind of interesting.

I think many of the dislikes of Superman fans is because Superman has the feats to back things up.

It has never been a matter of the "fans" is because he has the feats to back his things up.

A character who does not wins threads because he does not has the feats to back him up.

If you guys hate to being educated and shown Superman feats that blow your arguments out of the water is not our problem, We read those comics and We are just showing you why you might be wrong, if showing people wrong upsets anyone, then they should not be even debating and formulating conclusions based on IGNORANCE, because someone is going to come and prove you wrong and then You are just going to cry about it.

This is the reason why I try to keep my mouth shout on characters I don't know or I don't have enough knowledge about him and if someone who knows more about that character comes and proves me wrong, GOOD FOR HIM AND ME , I just learned something new. and I thank him for it.

No, the fans do play a large part in how a character is treated on the boards.

"Just read the scans" isn't enough. It's as much about how you present something as it is what you're actually presenting.

Its always been that way, sadly.
In 2000 i knew nothing of dragonball z.
I dealt with a fanbase that very smugly said goku could beat god.
Not a fictional version mind you, the biblical god.
And thats why i detest the cartoon.

That depends on how aggressive someone might be on his post.

I tend to be nice for most of the part unless the other side is too dense and ignores evidence. And even sometimes I tend to leave things as it is, as is not my task to educate idiots.

But a good 80 to 90 percent of the time I tend just to leave things as they are. I come here to have fun mostly sometimes a good scrap with a poster is nice, but no reason why to get things out of hand.

Even Quani, I like him

And that's fine... Well, bar the last part.

Seriously though, this is supposed to be fun. I just don't see how making Superman look bad is fun for anyone claiming to be a fan of the character.

I'm not saying you do it, just that it does happen.
