If I got a report from one of my ISSOs that one of my direct report employees were visiting sites (or viewing bestiality porn) that talked about bestiality, I would not care IFF* that employee was at a desk that was not visible from a person walking by. Thankfully, our security policy on PC setups, which I dictated about a year ago, says that PC monitors in desks and offices must have the backs facing the aisles to prevent shoulder surfing to protect our client's PII and SPII. This is also to prevent complaints to HR that someone is viewing something offensive...because every office has that annoying piece of shit that worries far too much about what everyone else is doing and likes to tattle-tale to HR.I'm like really ****ing smart n'stuff. uhuh
But, no, seriously, I do not care what my employees are doing at their desks as long as they get their periodic work completed and their responsibilities in projects done before the deadlines. I try to hire highly capable individuals who are self-motivated and have high-performance in their job expectations. I have hired many people over the years and have been horribly wrong, twice...which humbled the utter living shit out of my ability to judge character.
Also, why the **** is someone as smart as you unemployed? Is this a problem for you? if it is not, then it does not really matter if you're unemployed.
*Me use of that has caused confusion, in the past. So this is what I mean when I posted that:

You hit it on the head: it's all about getting your work done. If it's on time, and it's good work, I would think most bosses wouldn't care. That said, it can be disease once caught, so I always tried to avoid it unless my day was really slow.
I do know what IFF is, but thanks. I have some programming experience, and, among other things, had to be pretty heavily into HTML (and a bit in Wordpress) in my last job.
As for my joblessness, thank you, first off. I don't hide my intelligence. Nor do I flaunt it, but it's there. Would that it could more easily translate to monetary success, but statistically, there isn't a marked correlation between intelligence and wealth. Or happiness, though I have less trouble there. Sadly so, in either case. But that's rather beside the point.
It's a recent thing, and wasn't from lack of skills or interpersonal conflict. My position was eliminated in a staff restructuring. So...yeah. Not much to be done. I left having made many friends and with good references, so it was about as amicable as could be expected. I'm about a month into unemployment. I've had one interview so far, which went well and will likely result in a follow-up. And a few other promising leads. But no job offers (yet).
The chief hurdle is that a cover letter and resume can't market a person as well as I'd like, even in the hands of a good writer. And with many positions, that's all they'll see at the start. There are other problems, though, which have undoubtedly limited me some. My work experience and degree don't match, and at the moment I'm at 3 years in my field...a couple short of the magic 5 that gets your foot in the door at many places. So it's a struggle, but I'll likely land on my feet soon.
