I don't see the point, tbh, psychotic murderers aren't going to care what names you call them.

They do actually (or so I've read). It undermines their legitimacy. Apparently, they’ve even threatened to cut out the tongues of anyone who calls them Daesh.

While it truthfully doesn't matter *that* much, I do like using the name their direct opponents use.

Well even if they are crazy physiological warfare is a major thing when combating an enemy combatant.

If it does rile them up or get under their skin in some ways that can be a good thing.

Also using common nomenclature is good for allies so I agree with that point as well.

Ooh, good news-

USA Today article- Isis defections are up

WASHINGTON — Defections of Islamic State fighters — a closely watched measure by officials of U.S.-led coalition — have begun to thin the ranks of the militants in Iraq in the last month, intelligence reports and drone footage show.

Wholesale defections, sparsely manned checkpoints and elite foreign fighters pressed into mundane duty indicate that the U.S.-led bombing campaign and advances by Kurdish forces are eroding the forces of the Islamic State, also known as ISIL, said Army Col. Steve Warren, the top spokesman for the counter-ISIL coalition in Baghdad.

No hard numbers, but if they're using their more elite forces for more minor duties, that's a good sign.

More troops heading to Iraq and Syria

The UK is voting to bomb Syria today. Looks like it'll probably happen.

This is great news. The bigger coalition the better.

Can't we come up with a funny name to refer to ISIS to from now on? How about "Bacon Lovers United" ? Lets call them the BLU from now on.

Britain pass vote to start bombing ISIS and Germany expected soon as well to start.

Finally a Coalition over a year later from the day this thread was made from Obama's decision..

Obama brought the UK and Germany together, two historical enemies with gallons of bad-blood between them. Thanks, Obama 👆

Pretty sure we were enemies of Germany as well. And Britain and Germany have been friends a long time, but your post is disingenuous because I posted nothing about Obama getting them to work together nor does anything say he is getting them to work together, the article talks about them passing bills to start bombing them.

My comment was just non-offensive light-hearted humor not meant to be taken or replied to seriously.

Power down your phaserbanks; lower your shields, brah

😂

For the people who're still stubbornly saying that by calling them "Radical Islamists" that we are "helping" them (LOL), you do understand that when we call them ISIS or ISIL that the "I" in either word stands for "Islamic", correct? Likewise, when the President calls them the "Islamic State" they could still be considered "helping them" according to your logic.

Liberals and logic, two things that certainly don't mix well. 👆

IMO, we are at MUCH more of a disadvantage when we refuse to correctly identify exactly what or who it is we're fighting. If you don't know your enemy, then how can you expect to beat him or her or them?

He actually wont even call them ISIS, he calls them ISIL...and that is actually giving them recognition..because that is what they want to be called.

ISIS or ISIL, either way the "I" stands for "Islamic" does it not?

Yea its just funny that he calls them what they want to be called, but now we are not supposed to say radical..

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant

ISIL is the correct term, which he calls them by.

If only they'd read this thread earlier.
