I don't understand why we can't just send our troops back on the ground and finish off Al-Baghdadi and the rest of his senior personnel.

I keep hearing people saying "We did that twice. Turned out well." The reason why it didn't turn out well was because we didn't attack the heads of the organization as swiftly as we should've. We were busy bombing Iraq, when Bin Laden was hiding in Afghanistan.

We should locate where Al-Baghdadi is and launch an assault. Will take only a few hours, with minimal casualties and resources spent.

All of the people here hate the military and never been in it a day in their life. Which makes them hypocrites.

They just say it because they don't want more radicals killed.

I dunno, dead radicals is fine with me.

I'd probably also be fine with a coalition strike force with set goals and objectives in mind, just not the US charging in and initiating "Iraq War 2 Electric Boogaloo, and oh btw we're going to do to Syria what happened to Libya".

First of all, if the US knew the latter, they would have levelled it from the air by now.

Secondly, don't underestimate how tremendously difficult planning and performing an operation like this is, in hostile territory.

Thirdly, what about when you do this and, propaganda aside, it achieves nothing? ISIS goes on- indeed, they may even ramp up anti-US efforts in retaliation.

Forget about any vague idea of there being an easy solution to this- else it would have been taken. If boots go in on the ground, it will have to be the whole hog- a mass ground invasion of Syria with all of the causalities and local alienation issues that go with such invasions. Politically that's not yet possible because Syria does not want it and has allies.
