Dc wants a guy who wants to be a marvel character. Well, do is currently ecstatic over our old daredevil playing their batman.

We'll see how that works out. History has shown when an actor plays a DC character after first playing a Marvel character, it backfires. Halle Berry as Catwoman, Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, James Marsden as...Richard White 🙄 - also extends to when they hire directors for their movies (eg. Bryan Singer & Superman Returns.)

Looks like Smith has finally gotten over his oscar-thirst and is back to making fun movies.

There was a time when he didn't want to do violent movies, lest it hurt his "image". Dude turned down the role of Django. wtf

To put Star power into perspective, Will Smith still has it, even in this new era where pretty much all star power is non existent. Someone brought up on another forum that guys like Robert Downey Jr (The Judge), Chris Hemsworth (Blackhat), and Johnny Depp (Transcendence) bomb at the box office, even though the budgets for those movies were relatively low. All of those films bombed despite RDJ and Chris coming from big blockbusters like Thor and Iron Man. Blackhat only did 17 M WW, with a 70 M dollar budget. The Judge did 83 M, and Transcendence did 103 M. All pretty much underwhelmed at the BO.

When Will Smith did Focus, he made 155 plus at the box office, despite it being a smaller movie, non blockbuster, which isn't his usual action movie.

When he does an action movie (where the GA loves), he gets 600 plus M at the box office everytime.

And don't count After Earth. That was a Jayden Smith movie.

Everyone is saying that. Who can blame him!?

I only count After Earth, the rest are just lucky matchups with other films during their respective releases. Will has no star power or whatsoever 👇

The difference is those guys have become huge Because their superhero films were so big. Whilst in this case you're relying on this supervillain film being huge just because Will Smith is in it. After Earth proves that line of logic is faulty.

I personally think David Ayer and the Joker are the keys to this movie's success. Not old Will, whose probably doing this to spend more time with Margot Robbie 😉

Lies! The international numbers beg to differ. It fluctuates, of course, but Smith has been widely known to being one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.

Hahaha! Yeah, he probably jumped on board just because of her. 😂

Like the article I posted before, After Earth bombed domestic, but still managed to pull in 250 M WW. That's with a shitty movie in effect AND Smith not being the focus of the actual movie.

Yeah but Smith won't be the focus of this movie either. It's a team thing.

But I agree this movie has a lot going for it and certainly has potential for box office success. But I don't agree it's going to be successful just because Will Smith is in it.

Come on, dude. I never said it was JUST Will Smith. Don't take Inhuman's bad habits and not actually read my posts. I said earlier that there are other factors like Joker and Batman.

I'm not factoring the whole DC thing. More likely Will Smith, who is still big overseas. MIB 3 made 455 M overseas. Hancock made 396 overseas. For big blockbusters, Will Smith still has it.

Then, there is the whole Joker and Batman that will add more fans to the seats. All depends on how WB markets this. TBH, I think it can do more than what some predict.

^ Yeah I know but you have been focusing a lot on Will Smith's box office draw, and comparing it to people like Chris Hemsworth.

The difference between Marvel And Dc right now is that Marvel movies turn people into stars, whilst Dc movies are depending on Stars to turn their movies into Blockbusters.

Quality movies will do more for the actors then Vice Versa.

That's because I think a large portion of the BO will stem from him. Smith. At least the international BO. Has Smith ever delivered a flop in terms of his usual action shtick? I think not. Remember, After Earth wasn't the usual Will Smith movie.

In order for it to truly break out, it needs to be good, I agree on that front. At least domestically, because Smith isn't as big as he once was. But I don't see that being a problem. Domestically, people love the Joker and Batman and both will be in this movie. It's ALSO Harley and Joker in the same movie for the very first time. 😄
