Rely on the media to understand a religion is just?
Anyway i dated a muslim girl once, and we were sitting in a cafe when fox news came on, bashing on muslims like always, so i asked her to clarify certain misconceptions.
1) it turns out there isnt a single passage in the Quran which condones violence against non-muslims, all this misconception stemmed from 2-3 out of context lines, which was in relation to a war for survival.
2) During the early A.D era women in Arabia were treated as non-human trash worth burring alive, from my history lessons i clearly understood that islam was the first set of laws which gave women of that time, a great deal of freedom and right, rights and freedom which were considered pretty close to miraculous, women were allowed to teach, own wealth, run businesses; the only limitation they possessed was they're clothing and which men they gazed at.
Anyway most misconceptions about islam stemmed from the media, pretty much fox is mostly responsible. And no im not a muslim (im a borderline atheist/nihilist), but i have studied enough of the religion before blindly hating.
