The overseas numbers are the most impressive for this. It set records in many places and China is yet to open.

AOU did $240 million there in 2015.

Yah, now the only question is whether or not it has the legs to reach 2 Billion. I'm thinking it will but not gonna bet on it.

It should break 2b, it's an orgasm of most every MCU hero.

CRAZY!!

How can anyone NOT know to use spoilers?

FFS, guys! C’mon!

The best way to avoid spoilers is to avoid entering threads, specifically those with the title: Infinity War on them.

Besides its Monday, everyone should have watched the movie by now, else they shouldnt be entering these threads.

Either way, i shall use spoilers from now although i feel lazy to do so.

No. I think that's a record that won't be broken until inflation drives up movie ticket prices to the point where it is possible. Avatar is an overrated piece of trash, but it will remain atop the mountain for a long time methinks.

Avatar won't be touched for a while.

True. Maybe Avengers 4.

But i think it shall definetly be #2 at least.

Wow. Just wow. That was AMAZING! 9/10

Just a few minor complaints but in hindsight I understand.

Pros

Spoiler:
-The opera of characters were all blended so masterfully.
-The humor never fell flat and was implemented at just the right moments. The story was serious when it needed to be.
-The action set pieces look incredible and were so exciting.
-Lovable team-ups
-Doctor Strange is such a boss
-Thanos is by far the best villain in the MCU and probably all SH/Comic movies. He also looked so real you could touch him.
-I can go on and on about what is to be loved about this movie.

Cons

Spoiler:

-We didn't get to see Thanos wreck the Nova Corp. and take the Power Stone.
-I understand Hulk getting his ass kicked by Thanos but than no more Hulk after? That let me down a bit. He would've been great to see in the Battle of Wakanda.
-Where was that shot of Steve Rogers leading the charge of heroes? That was dissapointing.

But, my satisfaction with the movie greatly outweighs my gripes.

To me the best Marvel Movie so far. And its a 9.6 for me.

hmmm i've been reading comments and article and one problem alot of people had with the movie was "character development" lol. that gripe never made sense to me because i feel they have been developed already. some even have a whole trilogy to do so lol, like how much more character development dou need? i don't even think that's possible for a movie of this magnitude. do you guys think that that ding was valid?

No. But each reviewer is entitled to his or her own opinion however misguided... 😛

Dont pay them much mind.

...258 million in 3 day sales tells me THEY are the ones that, "don't get it".

.....

Money earned doesn't always coincide with a film's quality. eg The Twilight films were cash cows and they're god damn awful.

Having said that, character development was not a problem here. My only real problem with the film it tended to jump around a bit too much, thought they had a lot to fit in for it to all come gelling together at the end.

About Wakanda in Infinity War...

Spoiler:
Why is its military so comically incompetent? They're supposed to be the most advanced nation on Earth, yet their solution to a massive alien invasion force is to line up a few hundred dudes in Roman formations with no armored or air support?

The U.S. military would have absolutely decimated everyone we see defending Wakanda in the film sans Thor. What's up with that?

It's funny how people think so highly of Avatar. It's a good movie but its box office success is because of a revolution in technology and not in film-making. All the hype was because the movie was meant to be viewed in 3D which is also much more expensive than regular tickets.

Star Wars TFA success was because of nostalgia, that's why it had such huge numbers as well.

Marvel's success on the other hand is purely because of quality, it's because they've build a universe with consistent top tier movies. And the key to that is its producer Kevin Feige (who is a comic book fan). That's why DC falls short on the big screen, they don't have a Feige equivalent.

So in other words, it's unlikely that infinity war will reach avatar numbers. The only thing that could beat avatar is a revolution in technology, a new cinematic experience like VR or something.
