I finally got around to seeing this. It was damn good. It wasn't even an Avengers movie. It was basically Thanos the Movie lol.
Spoiler:
First, off Holland acted the hell out of Spidey's death scene. I loved him in this movie except for a few points that made me roll my eyes. For one, Quill shouldn't stand a chance against him. His Spidey scenes was so wonky. It worked at three points in the film but then Star Lord is able to catch him with his restraintsSeeing Red Skull again got me SO HYPED. Man I've been waiting for him to come back and they did his comeback scene so well. Now I just need him in the next Cap movie. He was the best part of Cap 1 IMO, and one of my favorite MCU villains so far.
Thanos wrecked house the entire movie. He was still nerfed, but impressive and an obvious/imposing threat. The gauntlet itself didn't come off as powerful as it should be. That scene where it disintegrated half the people in the universe is the only one that showed me its true power. Otherwise all Thanos really did with it is throw aside a few people to KO them. He couldn't be more creative with it? He really needs the mind stone to do what he did at the end? I feel like the soul, time, power, and reality stones should have been more than enough. The gauntlet in general just wasn't up to par. Iron Man is seriously able to put up a good fight against Thanos with 4 gems?
I'm also not a fan of all the reversible deaths at the end. It took away from that scene for me. Spidey was also the only one who really sold it. I loved that scene because he's the only one who knew it was going to happen to him. His spider-sense was probably off the charts, and you could feel the dread he felt in that moment knowing he was about to die.
The Black Order was unimpressive. All mostly faceless and boring to me, with the exception of the Wizard in the beginning. Cool character. I wish he had more time.
All in all, damn good. Solid 9 for me.
