The beginning being set up like a LOTR epic. The imagination behind depicting his version of Asgard, and the way he connected that to Earth. The character development of both Thor and Loki. And he certainly had a big hand in making Loki the best Marvel villain (and one of the best comic book villains) to date.It was actually quite an accomplishment which other directors could have easily messed up, but now we take it for granted.
Branagh's directed about 17 films...a majority being Shakespeare inspired. The script's already been written & not to mention the x amount of times they've been done as plays or movies...Branagh's versions don't exactly get credit as the ultimate Shakespeare experience.
Then you have mediocre, easily forgotten films he directed like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (even DeNiro couldn't save that one) or his take on Jack Ryan.
Numerous artists & cgi animators would get the credit for Asgard.
Like George Lucas, Branagh would've most likely been given several versions to look at, made some comments about slight design changes then left it all to the art department to finalise.
Let's not forget Asgard has already been depicted numerous times in comics & cartoons so it's a bit naive to think that Branagh "invented" Asgard for the big screen.
Lastly it's a bit more naive to give all the praise to Branagh & zero credit to the acting skills of Hiddleston. It's his acting in front of the camera that sells Loki.
Branagh sure had a hard time convincing audiences that DeNiro was Frankenstein's monster or Chris Pine was an action hero.

All right, fine. The movie looks great. Jesus Christ.
James Gunn's biggest complaint was that other movies were copying the GOTG trailer & not the movie itself.
The irony being, it would've been the marketing department who made the trailer & not Gunn himself.
Big chance it's the same marketing dept doing all the other trailers that lead to people "complaining" they're trying to catch the same vibe.

lol, sorry, wasn't replying to you. Was just too lazy to quote everyone i was replying to as I was on mobile.
And yeah, I would agree that they're trying to catch the same vibe. Hopefully the movie doesn't too much.
Both GOTG and Thor take place in the same universe and they are both set in MCU's outer space zones/world's, etc.
Of course they might look similar or they are stearing it be more uniform to what we seen of MCU's cosmic areas in GOTG. From characters , terrain, "vibe" . It's not like these 2 movies are in different universes.
What's the big deal?
It's like people complaining Rouge One using vehicles, locations, and characters from the original trilogy.
Of course they did. It's was a fuqing prequel to episode 4. Same universe. Why would it look different?
