Well it was a new property so not exactly predictable.
Are you sure you think this will do over a billion? Most people are predicting 800-850 WW.
Most people think that a billion is impossible, especially since GOTG V. 2 is doing much less than they thought.

This isn't Guardians.
It has Thor, The Hulk and Dr. Strange. Plus Loki.
The last Thor movie made almost as much as MOS (and it wasn't even that good). Dr. Strange made more than MOS. We've not seen an Incredible Hulk movie in a while, but it's evident he's a pretty popular Avenge as well.
I'd be shocked if this grossed anything less than $900mill but I'm sticking to my guns and predicting more than JL.
$800-900mill is what I'm expecting from Spider-Man Homecoming tbh.

You forgot that the Hulk also bombed at the box office. Adding Dr. Strange doesn't guarantee a big box office. Dr. Strange also had inflation, if you want to count that.
I'd be surprised if Thor hits a billion. Out of all the Marvel movies this year, I think Spider-Man will do the most. That's because they're heavily featuring Iron Man in the trailers.

i guess your definition of a flop is different.
When you add in marketing costs and the fact that the studios don't receive the full box office, it's likely that TIH cost more than it actually made. Hence it is a flop.

That's not a financially successful film. It needed at least $300 million to break even. BoxOfficeMojo. Plus the movie sucked, so it's no wonder it flopped.

I didn't forget about Hulk's box office. But it was a long time ago and pre-Avengers. His presence in Ragnarok has clearly added hype to it.
Dr. Strange grossed almost $700mill on its own. So I'm not sure why it's so hard for you to believe a Thor movie co-starring Hulk and featuring Dr. Strange can hit a Billion. Especially given the record breaking YouTube hits.
But who knows, might be one of those years where the big blockbusters underperform. Either way it seems to me there's more excitement for Ragnarok than for JL, so I'm betting it outperforms it.
Yes Spider-Man could potentially be bigger than both JL and Ragnarok. But it's hard to tell if audiences are fed up of Spider-Man reboots. Guess we'll find out in a couple of months.

Those examples don't translate into huge/1 billion box office, tbh. Almost 700 million? Dr. Strange did 677 million. I wouldn't say that's almost 700.

$800 million to $850 million is probably where this will end up. Which is still very good. People need to quit bringing up Youtube hits, they don't translate into box office giants. If that were true It would be locked for over 1 billion.
It probably is tbh.
Will beat the competition (JL) Imo, unless Wonder Woman blows everyone away.

677 isn't close to 700? lol
Look IM3 doubled the box office of IM1. So it's not unachievable. It seems to have the hype at least.
Anyway no point in arguing about it. We'll find out in November.

MOS isn't THAT far off from Dr. Strange, so I guess we can say MOS almost made 700? I don't consider that much of an accomplishment, since their is some inflation.
690 would be close to 700, not 677.
And you're going back on what you said earlier: Iron Man guarantees a billion. He's teaming with the worlds most recognized super-hero, Spider-Man. I'd be more inclined to say SM: Homecoming does more, but you could be right.

The idea that it sucked is my opinion, but the fact that it flopped is a fact. That's probably why we haven't seen any more Hulk movies for a while. The Eric Bana HULK didn't exactly blow up the box office either.
That likely has to do more with rights at this point considering his popularity surge due to the Avengers flicks than being scared that a solo Hulk film will flop. IIRC, Disney-Marvel can only use The Hulk in joint hero flicks, solo films is not allowed.
