That accolades still probably belongs to Superman, even some goat herder living in a cave in whatever 'stan' country recognizes the yellow "S" symbol.

Recognized doesn't necessarily equate to shirt and toy sales, considering how the majority of the population is dirt poor

What if that man/woman in the cave knows the symbol, but not the hero? What if he says something like: "Doesn't that symbol belong to Spider-Man?" 😉

No, what I said Zack, that goat herder knows.

Superman still probably holds the title. Though the huge success of film Spider-man over the last 15+ years likely has closed the gap.

Not just the movies, though. Games, comics, shirts, stickers, you name it. I would say Superman if the merchandise is roughly the same, but SM wins in that department and it's not even close.

Popularity of Super heroes to the general public rank as follows:

1A. Batman
1B. Superman

------POWER-GAP-----------

2. Spiderman
3. The Joker
4. The Hulk
5. Wonder Woman
6. Wolverine

Youre only counting the US. I'm thinking across the world. Spidey is the only hero to do over a billion in merchandise sales. Batman is second.

Merchandise sales does not automatically equate to brand awareness. As noted, most of the world is dirt poor. If you're parents living in India barely making enough to feed your four children, you're not running out to buy a Spider-man shirt, toys and lunchbox because a blockbuster film was released. Come on, Zack, use that noggin.

Across the world, nobody cares about Wonder Woman.

Im talking about worldwide. And im not just talking about sales. I dont know why your so obsessed with sales #'s all the time . Jesus 😬

Im talking about popularity, how recognizable these characters are to a rich person, or to people living in remote villages.
From people that watch every movie and buy all the toys to people that dont even watch the movies or buy any merchandising.

You're just looking at a percentages based on consumers. This is wrong. Just like you thinking a crap movie is good based on how much money it made.

😂 Popularity and sales go hand and hand. I have numbers to back it up. What is your proof? 4chan?

And I never said sales= quality of the movie. But you can't clearly read, so...

lulz, you say this all the time indirectly. "This movie made a killing at the box office and also sold a bunch of blue rays, so that means the general audience like it".

Next thing you'll say Suicide Squad was not awful because it won an Oscar for makeup

😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Wow, so that's your evidence, My uncle works for Nintendo? I honestly don't care if Superman is the most recognizable, but the only data we have are the numbers. if you have evidence to back up your claim (Which you rarely do), please post it.

Desperate on your part, cheerleader.

You're acting as if you had some huge support in this section of KMC, when it's actually you vs. literally everyone else...

I actually back up my claims with numbers. It's widely known that Spider-Man is the most popular hero in the world. Numbers and all. But keep on cheerleading.

So nothing? Thought so.

Superman & Batman have been the worlds most popular and recognizable heroes for more than half a century in pop culture and among earths population of human beings.

This isn't debatable.
