for people who stand to gain nothing from it, you guys sure spend a lot of time thinking about the money these movies make.
It's not about the money itself (gross sales does not equal profit made), but more curiosity about how "big" the film will be.

Dude you're talking about a 50mill bigger opening than Star Wars!
The best this could possibly do is Civil War numbers. 1.2bill world wide tops.
But there's no indication anywhere Homecoming has the kind of hype you're indicating. I honestly thought you were joking!

Oh and btw for Spider-Man Homecoming it's actually really important how much that makes, because it will determine whether Sony renew the sharing Spider-Man deal with Marvel or not.

We shall see soon. I'm sticking to it. Btw, you should re-think Thor doing a billion. The exchange rates will rape the possibility. GOTG VOL.2 won't nearly do as much for the same reason. It won't make that much more than Suicide Squad.

Well the last Spider-Man film did $200mill total domestic. And Civil War itself didn't even get to $200mill OW, and Avengers itself did not even get close to grossing $2bill. So forgive me for being critical of a $300mill OW and $2Bill total for a Spider-Man reboot featuring Iron Man.
Plus there's no way Homecoming has even close to the kind of awareness of Force Awakens or Avengers1&2. Some people I know had no idea Spider-Man was even in the MCU. And I've not seen 1 trailer in the theatres yet. And the guy I watched GOTG with had no idea a Spider-Man movie was out in 2 months. Other people are just bored by the idea of another Spider-Man reboot. So this will need the kids dragging their parents out in full force (like for SM3) added to the kind of WOM SM1 and SM2 had.
Why would exchange rates effect Thor but not JL? Forget the Billion. It's supposed to be a bad box office year. I'm just betting it will do more than JL and definitely more than BvS. Both trailers were on before GOTG, and audiences were wayyyy more excited by the Thor trailer.

I never said it wouldn't affect JL. It will affect both of them. I'm cautious about JL hitting a billion now. I might bring down my numbers for both.
Thor 880
JL 900
