Sounds like latest Harley solo series take is retarded is shes like the SS movie version

Typical. 🙁

My impression of the sequence was she wanted a family. Given that even in her primary DCAU portrayal where she/The Joker kidnap Robin and makes him their crazy son, it's not really out of the line with how she was depicted in the Animated series. It's not like their family would ever be anything but psychotic anyway

If I or others enjoyed it we don't need to justify anything to ourselves.

This doesn't make any sense.

Suicide Squad isn't some huge brand name. And neither is the DCEU a brand on par with the MCU.

If SS is making a lot of money then there must be decent word of mouth. People need to stop being in denial of this.

So are many entertaining movies. But this wasn't some Independence Day Resurgence or Terminator 3,4 e.t.c.

This was an overall entertaining movie. And audiences have obviously given it a thumbs up.

That's understandable if you didn't enjoy it.

I was massively disappointed in both X-Men Apoc, and Star Trek Beyond. Which is why I'm glad audiences didn't spend too much on those movies. The studio had been clearly given the message that they've gone in the wrong direction with those franchises.

Except everybody saw then trailers with the Joker and this is a comic book movie. A genre which has a traditionally high approval and box office take. Even then Suicide Squad is far below the curve on general audience feedback compared to most other comic book movies. What I think happened was SS didn't have any large competition and probably garnered enough interest that people just went and saw it anyway despite word of mouth being subpar or average.

And I used a poor choice of words when I said justify it to yourself. I mean don't try and use the box office to try to ignore the obvious glaring flaws in this movie. Especially to downplay what I say. If you liked the movie okay but I think the DCEU needs to start putting out much higher quality movies. Not subjective I mean objective quality.

I've known plenty of people who said they almost walked out on it after going and seeing it in theaters. Or they were just like it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but it was average at best.

D. Thor defended Batman v. Superman despite the trainwreck most people thought it was. This is more of the same him coming to the defense of the flawed DC film to act like his opinion is a fact. He has bad taste in films and is always willing to give DC films the benefit of the doubt.

She also wanted a family in her solo series, IIRC. I guess that's what you do when you're obsessed/love someone. 😛

Well I'm certainly not trying to make out Everyone Liked It. There was clearly people who didn't like it. Just that the box office is a better indication of word of mouth than the few people you or I personally know, or the cinema scores which is also a small representation. And even then, the cinema scores were not bad. Same as Thor 1 I believe. (I love Thor 1 btw and think it's a far superior film personally).

You might have a point about the August thing, but competition is a hard thing to measure. People say MOS would have done miles better if it didn't face stiff competition, and BvS actually didn't have much competition but still had a far lower multiplier than SS.

Box office isn't the all and end all, but if something has a good OW, Multiplier then later Home Entertainment sales, and then the next installment in the DCEU also has a good OW, then I think all that combined would be a much better indicator of audience satisfaction than RT and Cinema scores.

looking for a 750 WW finish. With China in the picture, it could have done 800 plus. Great start for a franchise.

Oh so it might even meet that supposed break even point 😂

It could've been a much better film

Great start would have been if it was a genuinely good film 😬

600 was the number Forbes said, not 750.

Talking about the 750-800 figure the Hollywood Reporter initially gave. And I was joking.

Honestly, when the movie was first announced, how much did you think it would make? I thought 550 WW only. Before the actors or anything else was released.

It isn't very good at all.

So, where is Bruce?

Taking a page from Marvel.

Current series is fun as hell. One of the best female solo titles on the stands.

I thought 550 would be a massive hit for WB/DC.

But I had no idea it would need about that much to break even, so have to put things in perspective that way.

Its a bit disappointing that DC spent so much money on marketing that its still has to deal with breaking even despite making over 500 million WW.

I would like to think someone at WB would learn from this and focus on green lighting a project that everyone can enjoy and doesn't creative such divisive word of mouth...but that's unlikely.
