cool.

you're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to think your opinion is dumb.

Will Smith is only entertaining to me when he's in comedic roles.

And when he murders his dog. He wasn't bad in the murdering dog movie

Smith has been a respectable actor in drama, too. Pursuit of Happyness was such a good movie. Seven Pounds was solid, too.

for example?

After Earth. Will Smith is not the right actor to play the part of a guy who is not supposed to ever feel emotions.

Will Smith is overrated.

Smith hardly did anything in that movie. That's a Jaden Smith film.

how can an actor mess up a shit movie?

No actor, not a single one would have made that a good movie.

I can roll with this.

I mean, I can't think of any movie where an actor puts on such a performance that a bad movie becomes a good one. Ultimately the film is still bad. Although its possible the acting can make a bad movie "passable" or "watchable."

I mean I thought Prometheus was disappointing and bad and Michael Fassbender puts on one of the best performances I've ever seen. So I'd watch it for him. Or at least his scenes.

I'll watch Rises just for the Bane scenes too.

Hmmm mmm maybe there is a movie game in here somewhere

obviously this thread has gone to the dogs so will look for more margot robbie pics 😄

This is bunk. The concept is interesting enough and COULD of been a decent film, but the casting was all wrong. Jaden Smith is a horrible actor, and Smith just flat out did not belong in a part of some guy who is supposed to be emotionless. You put a good actor in Jadens role and the dull performance of Will still brings it down.

I mean, father and son..stranded on Earth after Earth had been abandoned for a long time..dealing with aliens and giant sized versions of animals native to Earth, etc. The description doesn't seem oscar worthy, but it could of been decent.

The script also had some holes in it you could drive a truck though, so they'd have needed to do more than recast. It was a nice concept, though.

Yeah it would have some holes in it that need to be tidied up, but I don't see it as a film that could never work no matter what actors you put in the roles. Of course, this also stems from the fact Smith also wrote it, he needs to stop writing. He should give general ideas of what a story should be, that is it. He can come up with good concepts, but he can't fill in all the blanks, so to speak. I mean we aren't talking about something as horrible as "The Room" here.

M. Night Shyamalan and Gary Whitta wrote the core/screenplay, not Will Smith. He just came up with the story.

Will Smith's acting in After Earth was horrible. I can recall him laughing at the end over his sons joke over wanting to work with his mother. It sounded just awful.

I see. Yeah, that makes sense given this is Shymalan. So Will should stick to coming up with the stories, he has good ideas for films, he just entrusts those ideas to the wrong people.

Will's character was supposed to be a guy with no emotion too. You'd think that when he finally does show emotion it would be in a big scene. But nope..gets mad when kid asks to leave dinner table.

Yeah, M Night hasn't done anything good since Unbreakable. Sad.

Last Air Bender.

Will Smith seems a shell of his former "hip", "spunky" , full of life self.

Seems a combo of his wife, family Scientology , has sucked the life out of him. In the movie roles he chooses and in his interviews he comes off as bland and even when he is trying to joke it seems forced.
