I. RESPECT
Iron Man, along with his alter ego Tony Stark, is one of the most recognized and respected super-heroes on Earth. But he has also earned the personal respect of most of his super-hero peers. After his first encounter with the X-Men, Professor X communicates, "You risked your life for one of my X-Men! No matter who you really are, I shall repay you some day! I promise you that!" From Tales of Suspense #49:

Tony Stark has always played an instrumental role in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s organization. Accordingly, Nick Fury has bluntly stated, "Me, I figure if Stark's a traitor, so was Patrick Henry!" From Iron Man #10:

Iron Man has earned respect internationally as well. The arrogant Sunfire admits, "I cannot help but owe you a debt I can never repay! Farewell -- you have earned my respect, Iron Man!" From Iron Man #70:

This respect reaches the deep depths of the ocean. Namor considers him thusly, "Tony Stark is the most irritating lung-man I have ever met. But he is, in his own way, as regal as either of the true princes of the blood with you here today."

Iron Man's reputation as a hero extends beyond the planet as well when he first thwarted Thanos' machinations. Drax the Destroyer states, "[I]n any case, I owe you my life, Earthman! How can I-- and the Titans -- ever repay you?" From Iron Man #55:

The alien Rigellians study Iron Man and Jack of Hearts, "We have learned all we can Fleet Commander! They possess incredible power, but mean us no harm! Given time, we could duplicate this Iron Man's amazing armor but we have not the time -- !" From Iron Man #110:

It may not be readily apparent, but Iron Man has even inspired several super-heroes directly. Hawkeye recounts, "Seeing [Iron Man] go into action, I just knew that's what I wanted to do with myself. So I modified my carny outfit a bit and strode off naively into the night to become a hero." From Hawkeye #1:

When the incomparable Squirrel Girl's request to be his sidekick is rejected, she exclaims, "But... but you're my personal hero! You can't say no!" From Marvel Super-Heroes Winter Special #8:

Even the enchanted sword Excalibur found Iron Man to be a worthy champion in Iron Man #250:

As Merlin reveals, Iron Man was "the chosen champion of Arthur Pendragon" in Iron Man: Legacy of Doom #3:

Certainly his closest allies have had a lot to say over the years. Ms. Marvel tells him, "This is why you're the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., Stark. Because you're stronger than anyone. . . . You're here because impossible things happen, and when they do, they call on you to deal with them." From Avenges/Invaders #2:

Black Widow reminds him during his lowest moment in Secret Invasion, "You're not a Skrull. She was working you over. They're working you because there's five people on the planet that can stop this and you're one of them." From Secret Invasion #4:

And despite having butted heads often throughout their careers, Captain America can admit there's more to him than that, "None of us are quite up to Tony Stark's speed -- even when he's comatose." From Invincible Iron Man #22:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect25aIIM22.jpg
The God of Thunder, Thor, counts Iron Man among his closest personal friends and reminds him directly, "You are as much a god as any immortal I have ever known, Tony Stark." From Thor #390 and Thor God of Thunder #3:

And even the All-Father Odin has deigned to grace Stark with his presence. "I came here. I came. I came to see you, Stark. You. Do you realize what that means? I came to see you. " From Fear Itself #7.3:
