With how dragged out the Goku vs Frieza fight was in number of episodes or in general, of course a fight from a movie that wasn't even an hour long was not really gonna compare...
Even if Cooler still had to be non-canon, think he would've benefited more as main villain of a filler saga than that of a movie or two, where he'd have more screen-time and thus not have to get beaten that fast as per previous DBZ movie formulas. As it was though, he was one of the more worthwhile movie villains, even if mostly for the voice and designs.
Anyway, what you said is basically how I felt about King Cold as well, in that I liked the idea of the character more than the character itself.

They could have made an actual fight between Final Form Cooler and SSJ Goku instead of the one hitter quitter. Maybe had him resort to the spirit bomb for the millionth time and have that push Cooler into the sun.
I like the idea of a filler saga. Would have done him justice
Yup I feel the same way about Cold. He would have been a great villian if he transformed and made Goku and company work for the win.
So the first chapter is out. It's honestly not as bad as I thought it would be.
Second trailer, finally featuring Freeza's "next evolution".
I'll admit I'm getting more and more excited the more I see of this. I still maintain that Freeza was overrated as hell in Z, but the way this film presents itself, it shows him adapting by learning from error for once. It's what drove him to train for the first time ever. If this film does him justice, it might change my opinion on him.
I'm kinda hoping Xenoverse comes up with a "Revial of F" DLC pack one day at this point.

Again, a Saiyan training all his life is barely a match against a Frieza-kin training four months? That takes away all the Super from the Super Saiyan.
And then we have the prepubescent Super saiyans in Trunks and Goten, who are a whole new batch of power potential now that GT has been flushed down the toilet.

Yeah, that's worse then Sasuke working up to Rock Lees speed in a few days.
If Freeza was smart, mid fight he'd go "I'm not using my full strength! Just let me power up for about, say, another four months... sucker."
