Believe it or not a person does not hold the same feelings towards his work throughout it's entirety.

It's not like he has to do it though right? Unless of course its later reveal that Japan has come together to keep Toriyama working on DBZ.
No he doesn't have to but money is money dear boy.
Do not misunderstand me. I do not think Toriyama hated his job. I think he was in different moods during the creative process, which is why some parts like early Dragonball are fun, while Piccolo saga Dragonball were very dark.
Not talking about mood. (When it comes to his gag work, for my money his early Dr. Slump blows away anything he, or anyone else, has ever done. The facial expressions alone were priceless.)
More, that he was phoning it in by the Cell and Buu sagas, in a lot of ways. Look at how he put together "serious" fights like Tenshinhan vs Goku, and Piccolo vs Goku, compared to anything post Freeza saga.

Yes pre-Saiyan Saga fights were simply superiorly written than the latter ones.
Well favorite fights depends on a perspective rather than a hard judgement of criteria, particularly with something like Dragonball(which starts out as an adventure, not a martial arts manga). For the record my favorite fights of Dragonball were Jackie Chun vs Goku and, specifically, King Piccolo vs Goku. The former for variety and character development, the latter for drama and character development. Z is another story all together.
But there really isn't much that qualifies a fight as the best fight. Rock Lee vs Gaara is considered one of the best Naruto fights but when it really comes down to it there really isn't much that differentiates it from the more recent fights. Little strategy, not much variety, relying on Kai-o-ken inspired power ups, yada yada. But people love it and that is fine lol.

I sometimes feel like I'm the only one that likes Super Saiyan God. Oh well.
I don't despise it, actually. I think I get what Toriyama was going for with the look, just that the final product was a bit underwhelming on that approach. The wild aura helps contrast with the comparatively subtle changes elsewhere, and the slimmer, taller physique kinda parallels with that of Beerus, an actual God. If I were brutally honest, I do actually prefer it to that stupid golden SSJ4-looking thing ou see around the net once in a while. That would've just been as uninspired as giving Freeza something Cooler-esque; that's not playing on the character's own merits, it's diluting them in order to pander to previous ones. Would I have added a bit more visual flair? Probably, but not enough to say that they're being lazy. Besides, it adds a similar kind of thematic parallel between Freeza and SSJ's that SSJ God Goku did with Beerus, and I like that, though I do think it could'a looked a little bit less like a full-body spandex in Freeza's case.

I disagree with the statements made above about the fights in DBZ. The Frieza fight was amazing along with the all the fights in the Cell saga. Especially the Goku vs Cell and the Android 17 vs Piccolo fight. Both were made with perfection. All of the fights were good.
No they weren't.
Do you want to battlezone it Carv?

He was the most powerful until he ran into Goku. Per Bills, he knew Frieza so I'm trying to understand why Frieza didn't train himself to surpass Bills.
Why would he need or want to? Or even know he could? Frieza never met Beerus. He said his father told him to never lay a hand on Beerus. He had no why of knowing Beerus' power so he had no way of knowing how much stronger he needed to be for that to be moot

Ok, Bills acted as if him and Frieza knew each other personally. That's what I got from it. Where did you get the other stuff from with Frieza dad telling him not to confront Bills? Never heard of or seen that part in the movie and Frieza doesn't even listen to his father anyways.
