Thor used lighting to strike Superman down. It wasn't a simple h2h fight. But that would be too much for your eyes who only wants to see everything in "nah, they must be equal" light. Thor was nowhere mentioned to be weakened. It would be idiotic for Thor to be surprised at Superman catching his hammer strike "Thou caught my weakened strike, I must not shit my pants."
