Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

I don't know why they hired the director they did for this. I guess they felt they took a successful risk with Gareth Edwards for the 2014 one, but this guy is more experienced as a screenwriter than director.

It's the combination of mixed wom from the first film and competition from Disney that is hurting KOTM.

Yeah. The MCU Normies are going to ruin the Movie Industry.

Die, retard.

Yeah especially after Gareth killed it with Rogue One. They should have brought him back.

But ive still not seen this so cant really judge.

Wom has been pretty mixed for this as well tbh.

The audience scores are all high. It was like high 80s low 90s last i checked. Maybe it went down

Ah I forgot Rotten Tomatoes verifies ratings are from people who bought movie tickets now.

I loved this movie, cant wait to get it on 8k

WOM from the audience is good but the reviews are bad on RT and too many people really on that like it's gospel. RT scores are easily manipulated.

Seeing this today.

Yeah RT convinces people. The score is always there next to the film when im looking at showing times.

That said 40% isnt a horrendous score. It means even 4/10 of those posh think they know it all critics liked it.

On the other hand Venoms score was much lower and was still critic proof at the box office.

And my biggest gripe, they ****ing killed my girl Mothra.

Mothra can be reborn

People blaming the MCU for being too dominant, sucking up all the attention of moviegoers, ruining the industry - this is the arguments used against the first Star Wars movies 40 years ago. It's nothing new. Because the MCU is, like Star Wars, so awesome and epic so many other franchises look ordinary and small by comparison.

Pretty much...

"Everything that is bad is because of le Disney boogieman"

I’m surprised this isn’t doing as well

I genuinely liked the film and visually there are some gorgeous sequences. Would rather have seen it do better than dogshit like Aladdin

Godzilla still has more movies under his belt, more years than both combined, and created the idea of a cinematic universe. I wouldnt call him small. Just a smaller niche of audiences.

But for a movie about a big lizard and monkey to still be household names to this day and still having big budget movies and merchandise made about them to this day is beyond impressive. What other movie characters can say this?

Very entertaining.

Makes me want to see more. Oh, and there was a post-credits scene. Good, good.

Well...I never saw Kong kneeling to Godzilla so...Perhaps the rivalry will start there.

Or perhaps Godzilla will temporarily turn on the humans and Kong will protect them.

"Rivalry".

Zilla can brutalize him in a dozen different ways.

I never the rivalry between those 2 either. It makes literally no sense, which is weird since we’re talking about a giant Gorilla, and giant radioactive lizard.

Big G at his weakest-his first appearance-still far more powerful than Kong at his strongest. That’s not a rivalry.

Now Big G and King Ghidorah, that’s a rivalry.

Yeah. Zilla may have short arms (which are surprisingly capable), but other than that... he's got all the advantages.

Atomic breath.

Tail.

Natural armor.

Even the radiation alone that comes off from him.

His bite is meaner, too. And he's got spikes all over his body. Claws, too.
