Yeah. It was shit. It was exactly the same kind of shit as the first Godzilla...just longer. More boring, one-dimensional human characters. More pointlessly dark action sequences. Not to mention some of the dumbest plot holes ever.
Yeah because people actually go to a Godzilla film for the human character's.

Ive not seen it, but regardless it did flop at the box office,
Domestic sure....Worldwide it's a different story.
Originally posted by Darth ThorThe audience scored it an 83 and scored the first a 66 so it seems like people generally enjoyed it more. I don't get the critics rating either. The story isn't amazing but it delivered some great monster scenes that the first one completely jipped on. That's all I want from a Godzilla movie.
Ive not seen it, but regardless it did flop at the box office, and looking at the dip its taken from the last one, it has lost audiences.Fortunately Kong vs Godzilla was already well into production when this came out, so its definitely happening.

People don't go to see Alien movies or Predator movies or a whole host of other big franchises for the humans....Yet somehow they manage to not make them all boring clones of each other with shitty dialogue and wooden personalities. Unlike Godzilla 1 and KotM.
Even 97 Godzilla had better characters.
Even Skull Island managed it in the same franchise.

You just have to seek them. Happiness is out there.

It's almost like you can't read.
Let me say it plainly
I thought Skull Island was great.
There.

"Shut up I just want to look at big cgi blobs smack each othe-" lol stfu brainlet, just watch the fight scenes on YouTube then.
This thread is a great example of what happens when people get emotionally invested in a movie before they've seen it. They justify their investment by claiming it was great and that anything bad about it wasn't what they were wanting from it anyway. It's happened a lot recently. Game of Thrones final season. There's still people out there adamant it wasn't the biggest steaming pile of shit ever.
It happens the opposite way too. Lots of people wanted Captain Marvel to be terrible because of the Brie Larson controversy and it was actually pretty good. They still try to argue that it wasn't.
I've been guilty of it in the past too. I argued for a long time that the matrix sequels were great. Took me a long time to admit that Reloaded was average and Revolutions was garbage.
