G Canon tends to have the limitations of real actors trying to do superhuman stunts. The actors generally fail to be sufficiently superhuman enough on screen to represent their character's ability. Hence why characters are notably more awesome in the novels of the movies. It's why Superman movies never let him just speedblitz Luthor and save himself endless trouble.

He has sufficient precognition, sufficient tutaminis, and sufficient reflexes to stop anything he really wanted to stop. So he either didn't want to stop it or didn't care.

I believe he told Han something like 'are you going to shoot your own son next? Mwahahahaha"

On Han: Sidious's plan was to inhabit a younger body at the time. So he was pulling a 'strike me down and I shall only become more powerful' type thing at the time. He LET himself get shot on purpose. And it was kind of dumb of Han to shoot him.

...No one said he intended to get shot. What's being said is that {unlike Vitiate's hug}, Sidious wasn't fighting Han to the death and he intended to shed his body anyway.

He was prepared enough to do it. Didn't hinder him at all. Didn't even change the plot. Unless the idea was to show that Sidious is weak against dads trying to protect their sons. (Hi, Vader!)
