Ghostbusters (2016)

Well, like I said, this films pro-gender equality pro-race-equality dehumanizing insult fest marketing campaign was masterminded by Amy Pascal, a proven misogynist racist who insults blacks and personally conspired to keep women less paid than men for equal work.

Wonder if Paul Feig and Leslie Jones stopped to consider this before they got into flame wars with obvious attention seeking trolls and those with legitimate complaints of the film evil racist misogynist who just want to oppress women and blacks.

I mean on the other hand we all know Star Wars The Force Awakens bombed. Star Wars was such a beloved franchise and then when people found out a person with BOOBIES was the main character all hell broke loose.

Actually with TFA we didn't know for sure who the main character was through the marketing.

We eventually did though so where is the outcry. We sure as hell know she'll be in the future films too as the main character. Do you expect people to be whining once ep 8 comes out?

But I mean..you remember how quickly word spread about how bad Supes vs Batman was? Surely word spread that the main character had lady parts within a few days of release.

This film is one of the hugest misfires in cinematic history. It tanked worst than Waterworld. You could make college courses about the mistakes of this films production and marketing.

just don't tell us you don't care about it, 'cause you clearly do. This movie has struck several chords with you.

^ Not just him. It's struck a chord with several people here who keep spewing on it as if their lives depend on this movie flopping. It's as if they're happy the rights are going back to Marvel or something (as was the hope with F4).

Not sure what the issue is here. And don't say "because it's just such a bad movie that I must keep b****ing about it." Besides it can't be all bad when most critics and the majority of people here who actually saw it, enjoyed the film.

We both know the controversy about the movie is what kept the discussion going, that doesn't mean people thought their "lives depended on it". No more than I would say someone blaming the failure on "politics" doesn't mean they needed the film to succeed as if their life depended on it.

Also let us be real: you and others kept the thread going as well. It wasn't just a one sided discussion.

Some have sure, but not a large amount.

I don't know; I don't exactly have to go far to see people complain about her, refer to episode 7 as "The SJW Awakens", and things like that.

Okay but you see the things you listed like being a mary sue and not interesting..those aren't because of her gender though. Unless you are saying you see a lot of people just going "she's female so her character just isn't very interesting".

The apparent outcry for GB wasn't over anything to do with the characters other than just the gender. That is the narrative people tried to play.

Also guys wish me some f*cking luck because later tonight I might actually see this film. Oh will I be paying money to see it? Oh hell no, but my friend has..a "copy" of it.

I just can't wait to be blown away by the secret awesomeness of this movie!!! I'm sure it does a great job with it's portrayals of men and just..in general.

Oh rest assured I will be heavily sedated while viewing though. I also can't promise I will be able to watch the entire film because...even copious amounts of drugs can only do so much.

Lol so I saw the movie and just...wow. You guys ever have that thing where you are dreading something that you know is coming up and then when the actual thing happens it turns out to be even worse than you imagined it would be in your head?

So quite simply, it wasn't worth the months of the cast, director, and biased journalists insulting everybody.
