It's been confirmed by DeKnight that it was indeed a reference to Elektra. There's a really good interview here:

Vanessa is the name of the 616 Fisk's wife (or was...). Her character pre-dates the Jason Aaron Punisher series by about 40 years.

I didn't realize this was considered out of continuity until the exact moment when The Punisher killed Bullseye. That was when I realized it was an 'anything goes' story. Unreal ending, though I figured Frank was also gonna die when he killed Bullseye, so it was predictable. Still very well done though.

Kind of loled at Castle killing so many of Daredevils rogues though. I feel like he should have been a part of this story. Murdock must be watching the news like 'Wtf is even going on??'. lol

I'm not sure Daredevil even exists in the Punisher MAX verse. DD featured quite a bit in Garth Ennis's Marvel Knights Punisher run, but one of the things Ennis explicitly wanted to achieve by moving to the non-canon MAX imprint was to move away from all the actual super heroes and just let Frank Castle do his thing away from the capes and spandex.

PunisherMAX, though, is a self contained story line.

You should also read Punisher: Born by Garth Ennis. It's a 4 issue story about Frank in Vietnam and how the Punisher is, well, "Born".

Very, very good and very violent.

Frank Millers Daredevil run implemented the Heroin story with selling Matts identity.

In Kevin Smiths "Guardian Devil" Karen Page is manipulated by Mysterious into thinking she has Aids. This ends up not being true.

Done with episode 10 and Foggy's the first character to have irritated me on this show. I liked him before, but his whole reaction and naievity in this episode was really annoying.

But the show itself has been Epic. Will finish the series tomorrow.

Yeah, he acted like a real b*tch. I actually fast-forwarded through the bulk of his temper tantrums because I found them unbelievably annoying.

That's Ennis for ya. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the hell out of his Punisher material, but sometimes he will literally go out of his way to make other characters look like complete shit next to Frank. I mean, he's the same guy who wrote Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe, ffs... And ironically enough, DD was the last hero who Frank killed in that one-shot before turning the gun on himself:
