my only problem with this is that shane looks too small to be punisher. ray stevenson was perfect. i'll give shane a chance though because i think he'll nail the character regardless of the size difference.

I actually hated Ray Stevenson as Punisher. Way to old, and way to bulky. His face was way off too.
I've never understood the hate for Punisher War Zone. No, it wasn't a great movie but it was entertaining as hell. I have the opposite problem with Mad Max Fury Road. Everybody raves about it and I thought it was the worst Mad Max movie ever made, just an hour and a half of road rage with no real plot. Hell, to see that all I have to do is go on the highway during rush hour.
Glad to see that at least Oswald Patton felt like me when he saw War Zone:
"The film does not contain a hero. It does not contain an anti-hero. It contains a glowering Brit who huffs around in a bullet-proof body canister like he's searching for the perfect toilet to unleash a ten burrito dump. He's just as awful as the villains he dispatches and, unlike scores of other action heroes, does not utter a single clever or ironic quip. He'll plug someone and already be turning away, scanning the horizon for something else to kill. He's played by Ray Stevenson, but could have easily been played by Ray Stevens. He's more a force of destruction than Jason Vorhees or Michael Meyers could ever dream on.
Keep in mind, all of this mayhem, insanity and just-plain bug****edness is contained in one of the most beautifully shot films I've seen this year. It's almost distracting, how gorgeous cinematographer Steve Gainer's palette is. It's like he studied BLACK NARCISSUS and THE RED SHOES right before shooting a snuff film.
And director Lexi Alexander, a former stunt woman and kick boxing champion, has just groin-punched her way to the front of the line in the Nutball Director's Pantheon. Make room, Miike! Step aside, Kounen!"
LOL. Love his enthusiasm.
Daredevil's first season blew me away, so I am trusting them to do justice to the Punisher. Getting really excited!
I didn't mind Stevenson as Frank, but I didn't enjoy the film either as a Punisher fan, though that was primarily because of how over the top and campy Jigsaw and Loon Bin Jim were which was further highlighted by the films proximity to The Dark Knight release. Once the parkour meth addict got hit with a missile I knew what kind of film I was in for though. I prefer Thomas Jane to Stevenson.

I just finished watching the episode where Stick first appears. So do they ever bother to explain what the heck the little kid that Stick kills was?

It just really bugged me that Matt didn't just ask Stick wtf he meant when he said it wasn't a child.
Then the guy Stick goes and bows to at the end is apparently some asian guy with the voice of Keith David.
They're doing an adaptation of Shadowland and the Rising is about finding a vessel for The Beast, a demon which The Hand worship, to use as a host, hence rolling out the potentials (kids).
Also, the guy that Stick was talking to with his back facing the camera was Stone, Stick's second in command of The Chaste. Stick didn't tell Matt about the war because he didn't complete Matt's training. I'm fairly certain that this season Matt gets a full disclosure and realizes the stakes are bigger than his moral code. #lookingatyoumorgan
