I meant to put "not" in there. My bad.Have you ever seen a force field do that? Has Zod? You are not the authority on what Zod would think about that power. It would be more likely he was confused about it than jumping right to "it's clearly a force field"
Nah son. I got the end all right here:
Zod has greater than black hole punching power!!! Why? Well Kal was able to resist the force of a black hole via flight. But when he clashed with Zod using his flight, he was launched in another direction!
So Zod's punches>>>>>black hole>>>>>>>nuke. Canon. 😛
Ok.
Cept for the fact that it does everything a force field does. Like stopping punches and heat vision.
Rest is just baiting so I won't bite. 😛
I am kinda curious though what shaw did or what his powers allowed him to do in the scene with Magneto. When Magneto was trying to squish him with that huge I-Beam and before it even contacted Shaw it was already being resisted and pushed back. So there was no kinetic energy that hit shaw as it stopped before it even got to him.. Yet the other stuff hit him square on

OkYou're forgetting the Harlem Shake he does. That is very force field like
You're not an authority on force fields. So you can't really say whether or not force fields being impacted would cause visual distortions like that. All that matters is what Zod would immediately think when his punches are being no-sold. And trust me, it's not energy/kinetic absorption.
Heck, for all we know, it might even really BE a force field. Shaw's power in FC didn't work like his comic version (kinetic energy converted to strength) it was an absorb-all-energy-and-release-it power and it allowed him to use the energy in a variety of ways. Notice the girder when Shaw was walking towards Magneto? It wasn't touching him but was bending towards Magneto. Looks very force field-y to me.

We're not talking about it being a force field. We're talking about Zod's first reaction to it the second his punches would be no sold.
It would be either Zod thinking it was a defensive field of sorts and more force applied to it might breach it. Or he might back up and try to theorize that it was kinetic/energy abosrption.
But since we're on that topic, FC Shaw's power worked very differently from his comic version. At the end scene when he was walking towards Magneto, the girders were just bending away from him right before touching his body. Looks very curiously like a force field. But that's just a theory.
They would be sold though and with tax, sir.
The idea that Shaw would be left standing perfectly still after taking a punch from Zod was wrong, Shaw would at least be knocked back a bit, though unharmed and immensely powered-up by Zod's punches. Magneto managed this with his power and the support beams
Yeah, that scene is questionable, but it also look likes it could just be not perfect CGI and was meant to imply that Shaw was just pushing them with his unstoppable powered-up body

I think my use of the term "no sold" was incorrect. Or our interpretation of it is different. I meant it to mean he'd hit Shaw and Shaw would be unharmed by it. Shaw would no doubt do his usual jig and maybe pushed back but it would do no harm to him.

Again I never said he would think "energy absorption" right away. I just don't think he would go to "force field" right away either given Shaw's reaction.
I'll rewatch the scene and get back to this.
how dare you ignore part of my post!

Well many have force fields in Marvel, not just sue. I know what Shaw's powers are.. I'm curious how and why the I beam stopped before it even hit him and was being pushed back as well. The other I beams hit him no issue. That particular one never made contact and was stopped dead in it's tracks before making contact.

Yeah, it was an odd and out of place moment, I'm not 100% sure either way
