In case Sony decides Marvel isn't adding them any value and stops sharing Spidey.Oh well at least we're guaranteed 2 Avenger films with Spidey in them and 1 more Spider-Man film made by Marvel.
The Spidey deal of him appearing in the Avengers movies is already set.
- The way I see it is that Sony can clearly see the movie was well revived critically.
- They also see that the movie isnt making monster money like they expected. They have to see that they(Sony) trashed the Spiderman name last time with Amazing spiderman 1&2. Its not going to be instant that Spiderman movies will start making billions again. At least This version of Spiderman is being well received so far (critically)
- This is good news because it will make Sony question their stupid solo film spidey spin offs. They will see that just because they want to make a quick buck milking milk the Spiderman name it wont mean instant money. A Blackcat spinoff or even the Venom spinoff wont make half of what Homecoming will make.
- Hopefully this make Sony rethink their spinoff plans and see that the Spidey property isnt as valuable as they once thought. And it will lessen their pull and power when it comes to negotiating Spidey deals with the MCU.
Why would they want to stop sharing Spidey if they know that if they stop and try to do their own thing with Spiderman, that it wont make as much money as they thought. If Spiderman isnt making 1 billion with the MCU backing it , it wont make close to that with just Sony in charge of him.
^ Ah I think they'll think the opposite. That Spidey just isn't going to be monster money maker he once was for them (even with Marvel's help). So best for them to milk the Spin off's.
But yeah I'm glad Spidey is set for 2 Avenger films if nothing else. Better than we were ever hoping to expect 3 years ago. Might as well just enjoy it while it lasts.

Well the might think that even TASM2 made $700mill, so an actual good sequel would have made more. So they might question how much difference Marvel made.

So I'd prefer the Marvel produced Sony films to do really well, but the Sony Spin-Off films to flop.

Yeah 🙁If only we could have Venom as a villain in a Spider-Man film. Done right that is.
My dream has always been:
After homcoming,
A Kraven film - Teasing in Eddie Brock, with quick side villains like Scorpion, etc
A Venom film after the Kraven one, teasing in Carnage
A Carnage film after the Venom one
Later on they can have A sinister six movie with a team up of past used villains like Vulture, Scorpion, Shocker, Norman Osborn assembling them all.

TASM 2 sucked though and this was Marvel saving them.
Pretty much. This movie has already made more money than TASM 2.
People just had ridiculously unrealistic expectations for SM. He’s simply not as big as he once was. And people aren’t going to be all that interested in seeing a second reboot in a mere decade.

Wow the creativity, and the vision is only something Sony could pull off.

Yes I get that. The question they might ask though is how much a TASM 3 would have made if it was any good.
But yeah like Inhuman pointed out, if they have any sense they will look at the audience and critics score and realise Spidey's goodwill Is being built up again.
