The source of that enduring popularity really isn't that difficult to grasp when you consider that he's been consistently and painstakingly depicted as one of the most formidable baddies in mainstream pop culture, let alone in just Star Wars.

Now given that you're clearly not a dumbass, I can only conclude that your reluctance to accept the blatantly obvious owes to a deep and longstanding resentment of Sheev, most likely regarding a Star Wars villain you like better but has nonetheless been overshadowed by him.

Again, it's not like the notion is totally unreasonable. Disney's distancing itself from the notion that a suited Vader is a lesser Vader {which is refreshing when you consider ANH's dialogue clearly implies as much and George's reasoning has always been pretty damn weak}.

In addition to his Clone Wars experience, Vader has been hunting Jedi for 15 years. Even in Legends, with all that competition, Palpatine flat-out said that Vader was the most prolific Jedi killer ever.

Stands to reason he's crossed blades with more Jedi than anyone ever. Between that and his unprecedented potential and aptitude and the fact that Sheev is in function an Orcus on His Throne... it's not impossible for Vader to be a more skilled swordsman.

The page says "Top 5 Red Lightsaber Wielders", and Vader's #1. It seems to me the list is ranking in order of skill with the blade, but whatever - Vader's cock needed more gobbling as of late.

Nah, Kenobi lost after all. Plus Vader isn’t as fast as Sidious so, even if he is the superior duelist, that doesn’t mean he can beat other duelists as fast or as easily as Sidious could.

Vader being possibly more skilled than Sheev doesn't mean Sheev wouldn't annihilate him utterly in a fight. That's another reason why the possibility isn't a big deal. Vader is history's most prolific and active Jedi killer. He's a prodigy of cosmic proportions. Sheev is someone who, while obviously a crazed killer, is an Orcus On His Throne who primarily acts through others.

Is Sheev more powerful? Duh. But it's not out of the realm of possibility that Vader is more skilled than he.

Top 5 Red Saber Wielders comes along with Top 5 Stormtrooper Atrocities, and Top 5 Human-Droid relationships. So doesn't sound like any kind of Factual ranking to me.

Anyway The book confirms Vader has designed his own Saber Form to make up for the restrictions of his Cyborg suit.
