Star Wars Battlefront III

Just played a few games on the PS4. Couple thoughts.

Graphics are outstanding. Really impressive. Runs very smooth as well. Great skyboxes and the explosions looks awesome.

I didn't care much for the 16 player mode, got bored of that pretty fast. The larger scale AT-AT mode was pretty fun, though. Cracked up a few times when new players flew X-Wings and Tie Fighters into mountains.

Not sure if this'll be worth purchasing, but it's fun, and yeah it definitely doesn't feel like Battlefield, besides maybe the scale of the battles. Feels kinda like an old school FPS.

I had low expectations and this failed to meet even those. It's ridiculously generic and the gameplay feels very bare bones.

Definitely not worth $60.

The graphics and sound design are really cool in this game; like, standing in that shield bubble thing and listening to the patter noises from the blaster bolts impacting against the shield is so dope.

As far as the gameplay though... yikes. We've been calling it Battlefield in space this whole time but frankly I feel like it has more in common with Call of Duty then Battlefield. At least in BF you can hop into a tank or jet at will and spend the rest of the match gunning people down in a vehicle if you wanted too. There's a huge emphasis on infantry combat here, with everything else basically just being a limited power-up. That wouldn't be too big of a deal except the infantry mechanics are sooooo shallow. I'm really feeling the lack of bots, too.

I've only put a couple of hours into it so far but thus far I'm unimpressed.

Downloaded the beta on Origin (**** you EA just use Steam like everyone else you ****ing ass-reaming pedophiles), gonna play with Blax next time he's on so that we can engage in erotic synchronized complaining.

Hey, Origin is decent. And at least it isn't Uplay.

Downloading this myself. Hope it isn't shit.

Yeah, Origin isn't bad. Hell, they even offered refunds for at least a year before Steam did.

Uplay is a piece of shit.

I agree that it doesn't feel like $60 bucks (or $90 in my case) at all. I wonder if it's a beta thing or not but I don't think that's the case.

But from my limited playtime, I don't think the mechanics are bad. I actually enjoyed the arcade feel of them. It doesn't feel like Battlefield which was the worry.

I'm probably not going to bother buying it because it feels like a $40 buck game (even though EA probably paid a ****load of money for the rights to design it and probably the reason for a few things missing) but with graphics and sound, I ****ing wish there was SP campaign.

DLing this on ps4.

Hoth I was fine with for the most part minus the imperials having too much an advantage like in the movie, but Tatooine doesn't really feel much like Tatooine, as a whole (and from what I saw was only used on the laughable 'mission' where you fight six short waves of enemies), and the episode 7 map was meh. Game can be fun at first for awhile but the lack of replay value is pretty evident.

The force is... not strong with this one, nor is it with anyone who pays $60 for this.

Hoth map is a trap. It's Rebel Hell. One sided, incredibly unbalanced. Done. Goodbye.

I'm going back to playing Star Wars Dark Forces on my PS1.

Well, it's not the full game. The map with 6 short waves has 15 in the real game.

I do agree that the game feels like it might have no reply value but I'm going to wait for the reviews to hit to confirm that opinion.

I'm enjoying the beta so far, but I've only just started. I'll post my impression of it in a day or two. So far though, its a blast

I literally just ran around an AT-ST on foot and shot it to death with my blaster rifle.

lol

This game is hilarious both in the good and the wrong way.

It's not very good, to be honest. It seems very shallow. At any given time you only have a couple different ways of fighting your enemies.

Most frustrating for me is the terrible respawning. Many times I'd respawn and immediately have my head blown off by an enemy trooper, or I'd happily walk along an empty ice crevasse only to have four dickhead rebel troopers spawn and immediately open fire (probably shitting themselves over spawning right next to the enemy).

Also, the battles just feel empty. The use of AI-controlled bots would make the battles seem like actual battles, instead of skirmishes.

I didn't expect much, and didn't get much.

I imagine the spawn issues is something that will be fixed. That's the sorta issue that betas are meant to find.

I agree, I'd like more players in the large scale maps. And it is pretty shallow. I played for a couple hours yesterday and while I had some fun it didn't really fill me with the desire to go and buy it.

Even then though, there wasn't really much variety with said enemy waves (there were at least 2 or 3 where you just fought like an AT-ST), so I question if even 15 waves would've made the experience much better. Of course, am more insulted if they think a mission mode/single player like that is a suitable substitute for a campaign, than I am with the enemy varieties or lack thereof.

As a whole, game can be fun in small doses, but the experience is not enough to really warrant buying it, yeah.

So far, gunplay is good, but I'm hoping for waaaaay more variety in terms of weapons/customization.

Also, ****ing lol at how broken the rebels wins can be:
