Not everything must be shown on panel. That's why we have dialog in the comic. Mother box can't heal someone dying which was explicitly stated in the same panel. FWIW, superman survived without any injuries two planets colliding (pushed by The Source) in the same series. Even Galactus was nearly killed under the same writer by such an attack. Food for thought.

I sometimes wonder what it must be like engaging you in an innocent conversation at your local comic shop, and saying something like "oh, you read Superman? That was a good fight he had with Brick Layer Man last issue. He really had Supes on the ropes for awhile!"
