It improved significantly. Level 1 to 30 was always a fun part of that game and it was balanced pretty well but once you got to the end game, it fell off a cliff.

They introduced Gear Sets and while the addition was a much needed one, it create a terrible meta. They could not balance the game correctly for the dark zone. At the start, only 2-3 gear sets were useful.

Also, it had a terrible loop for getting loot. Activities needed a certain gear score (based on difficulty level) but once completed, would only give out loot at the GS required to beat it. So basically, no matter how many times you beat the activity, your character would stay the same GS which stopped you from doing higher GS activities. The only way you could get better was to do the DZ (which had its own problems), or let higher GS players join your group and complete activities at a higher level you are currently. It was terrible. You would be stuck at a GS level for 20 hours before scrounging enough highend/gear set item which allowed you to repeat the same "Easier" activities at a higher level. Eventually, you would get a decent set which finally progressed you to a higher level.

But the worst was loot drops. They were minuscule. The only way to get high ends and Gear Sets was mission rewards and boss drops and when dropped, would be 1 item each. No other high ends and Gear Sets would drop anywhere else. But the ****ed up loop I mentioned above played into this....you could do a mission at your GS level but you would never get anything better. You had to go the DZ to get progress or re-do the Lexington mission a hundred times at the highest difficulty level and hope you got a decent drop. Just a reminder, there is a ton of different items you carry (6 clothing items and 3 weapons) so it was pure luck to get something good that you didn't already have. Around that time, only certain weapons were useful because of how unbalanced they were so good luck trying to get something decent. Hell, even if you received the right weapon/item, you still had to deal with RNG on what talents/attributes you had. I must of played the same damn mission 300 times or more before I got something good.

They fixed all that shit in update 1.4. Now, it's a really good grind and you can get loot anywhere.

Dying Light is pretty fun, but tbh I'm one to get attached to weapons, so... yeah.

Max Payne.

Considering when it came out, the games pretty amazing looking.

Max Payne is awesome

Wish I got it off Gog instead of Steam. Hit or miss weather it runs on any given system.

And you still need a sound patch.

But my god, is it good. They really knew how to design games back then, to maximize the cinematic experience.

Man, I remember the first Max Payne looked absolutely incredible when it released. Great game, too.

Pump action or sawed off?

Two insta shots and a reload, or seven shots and a slight delay per pump.

But I'm thinking the long barrel has better range and stopping power.

Darkest Dungeon.

Finished Doom. Really fun game. Great, empowering music. Had a lot of fun. Hope there's a sequel not too far off.

Getting Bloodborne and Silent Hill 3's platinum.

Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Super Mario All Stars, and Super Mario World (All legally owned.)

Even the best indy games just don't come close.

I also want to try this Final Fantasy VI Woolsey uncensored patch I heard about. That, of course, requires an emulator, but I also own that game, so up to you whether emulating a kart you played on genuine hardware for the perks of emupation (Like better aspects on an hdtv) is a grey area or not..

Trying some of the Final Fantasy 7 mods.

Haven't actually play tested yet.. They're kind of a ***** to set up, even with mod managers like 7th heaven (I mean, you need to convert the entire game and get it out of Program Files, for starters. Lot of effort just to mod up something, but I'm curious enough...)

Seems to work ok on my integrated laptop.

Looks very nice with all the mods.

I'm not really a big fan of VII, prefer IX, but I paid for the Steam edition on an impulse, so why the hell not replay it?

Pre-ordered Battletech. Was a HUGE fan of the old battletech PC game and enjoyed the Shadowrun game from the same company. Will he out in a lil over a week. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, Crescent Hawks Inception was awesome.

Kept screwing up the map sequence, and had to look up a cheat years later (I knew the physical map was key, but it was so battered and barely legible..)

I'm shut out from the remake though, it looks like.

Geforce 660 gtx is the MINIMUM. They're not after the low spec crowd, that's for sure.. I can run new Doom with my Intel 620 Mobile, but that's not nearly good enough for Battletech minimums..

Ow. Dang. When you planning on doing an upgrade?

I'm not.

Laptop was a gift, and I'm not really into master race gaming. Would be a waste spending money on a proper rig (I prefer playing retro consoles, tbh. Though to me, a PS2 isn't really "retro" 🙂 )

Final Fantasy 7 PC just about modded. Tested well.

I like the 60 fps hack.

That said, I would NOT recommend modding the thing. It's literally a several day long project.. Practically not worth it.

Only must haves are the music, and possible the animations/fps, but otherwise... just enjoy it out of the box on Steam (Or the Playstation version.)
